https://www.yahoo.com/news/chinese-airline-passenger-opened-emergency-door-111830294.html
i needed some fresh air, i suppose he thought planes fly with the windows open like buses do.
defacating in the aisle or on newspapers on the seat, smoking in the restrooms, this constant barrage of stupid behavior is really getting ridiculous,
i am old fart but i dont remember the decade of the 90's, 80's , 70's, any incidents like this from undeveloped countries were citizens did this kind of behavior and i have been to some pretty undeveloped places in the world.
does china need to give a class and get people certified to fly before they can buy plane tickets, if it wasnt for cheap labor and expected late and lousy service you get already, passengers would be raising hell about this, but "this is china".

It wouldn't make much of a difference, I think it would be like the no smoking signs everywhere that are ignored, or traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, traffic rules in general...
They are there for good reasons and are all routinely ignored.

I'd rather have a class on fast and efficient ATM usage with compulsory attendance; not attending would result in execution.

yes, i feel that way when im at a mcdonalds and they take 10 minutes to order from a menu that hardly ever changes, its fast food you idiot.
Yes and no.
The problem comes from the airlines themselves. The domestic ones here don't give a crap about what happens - safety - what's that?? And the fear of losing 1 customer if they don't get to do what they want.
But you take other airlines - the international carriers - they won't put up with crap, and will tell people to sit down before a full stop. Or kick people off a plane for being rowdy.. and even turn the plane around to kick them off! This needs to happen more here! (but then, the whole system needs to be overhauled)
Is this not where the state media can step in? News stories where people are named and shamed. When western media started to report air rage incidents it made people aware of what is not acceptable to do on a plane.
The same could be done here. News articles explaining the safety aspects, rather than hiding the stories because China "loses face" Because if one of these "embarrassing" events turns into a tragedy there will be international face loss.
Yup. Nip it in the bud before stupidity kills innocent people.
Yes. I was on a plane and a old loud man was behind me kicking my seat to go forward the whole flight. When I told him to stop he got loud, eyes wide open shouting , how dare I tell him the king of the plane to behave nicely- not my first time in China so I laughed in his face. The behavior is ingrained in many situations (WCs, restaurants, getting a train, buying anything in a shop) you just can't leave a plane... I'm also rather curious at why they all push off the plane to stand around waiting for their 10 items of luggage to come off the plane...

im starting to wonder if there is a cash prize for first off the plane please stay seated with your seat belt on till the plane has stopped at the terminal . yet this is a green light for some to open the overhead lockers grab their stuff and bolt for the door
ScotsAlan:
Ha ha yes.
"Please remain seated with your seat belts on till the engines switch off"
I think that translates to " Quick, get your stuff, switch on your phone and push to the front" .
None of this orderly disembarcation process here.
Shining_brow:
Couldn't be, Scots... the phone was never turned off, in order for it to be turned back on,
Such behavior is not any different on a train or even a city bus; have observed all this and more everywhere. Nobody seems to notice.
One day I noticed a woman helping her toddler to take a dump right against a large cardboard bin of rice at the local Carrefour. I asked her to stop it and she began to yell at me... security came and I explained to them. There was no time for that woman to remove the 'evidence'... they took her away for 'harmonization', I guess and apologized to me. Weird.
Shining_brow:
Awesome! (and amazing!!!)
But, it is indicative of something I've noticed - people here are actually aware of social norms, and what's considered right and wrong. So, when they're pulled up on such things, they do actually know what they're doing is wrong (hence, the apology). But, as per most humans, they aren't willing to just lose face by admitting it. So - they go on the attack first (this is not always true... many times they will accept it, and apologise and change the action).
