Q: Do we need a chinese high school in america?

http://www.courant.com/community/west-hartford/hc-west-hartford-uconn-0327-20160329-story.html

so many problems with connecticut, starting with the highest taxes and over paid government workers and a soon to be bankrupt pension plan, and wanting yale to give them more money for tax revenue.

so will the desperate democratic liberals open a chinese high school so the chinese can make the money on the students instead of american high schools to get some more money for connecticut, i wonder if they know anything about the great teaching methods.

now the chinese dont need to worry about fake essays and english tests, if you have money come on in.

gotta love hypocritical liberal arrogant snob sell outs, gives you that warm fuzzy feeling and a tingle up my leg from my nicely creased slacks.

That Chinese company is going to make money hand over fist. Now Derp and Derpina can buy US educations with Chinese characteristics. They will go abroad but learn the same things as they would in China. They will go abroad but not learn about other cultures. They will learn what instead of why, just like in China. In fact they will gain nothing that they couldn't gain in China except face. This will of course devalue the qualifications of millions of Chinese who went abroad and studied hard but who cares, some big shot will make loads of money.

Does the US have a standardised education system? Or at least, state-wide?

It's not surprising, and I thought there would have been more of these already.

If they have real teachers (ie, not just imported Chinese ones), then it's actually a good idea for those wealthier parents. The kids today in China suck - because mummy & daddy don't give a toss about them, and throw them into 'international' programs to help them get overseas - but their English sucks, and they're going to fail (90%). At least this way (hopefully, if it's managed well) the kids will get their English, and will be brought up better.

Yes... it's wishful thinking Tongue

What I read is that a Chinese group will buy the property to open an international school. Doesn't mean it's going with PRC characteristics. There aren't a lot of details about the project itself.

But even if it was, what's the fear? Do the groceries with a record of selling rotten fruits sell a lot of apples? I mean if they want to put a failed education system on the market what's the problem? Freedom is also about stupid people being free to make stupid choices.

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
