To quote only two points...

"and, if such large-scale wind farms were built, would warm average surface temperatures over the continental U.S. by 0.24 degrees Celsius."

“Wind beats coal by any environmental measure, but that doesn’t mean that its impacts are negligible,”

So - how much of the coal temperature rise is reduced by changing to wind as they clearly state it beats it by an environmental measure?

Looks like we didn't make a mistake...wind IS still better than coal.

Move along - nothing to see here

I wonder what goes on in people's heads when they post this stuff.

Transition to renewables has a downside, previously unforeseen requirements and pollution. But it's still leagues better than coal.

Then ambivalentmace, giddy at the prospect of renewable energy losing reputation, deliberately misinterprets what is being said, to come out and say it's a toss up between coal and wind farms. Unleash the moral equivalency dragon!

What's your beef? Did a noisy windmill cockblock your first date? Photobomb your magic moment? Do you own a coal mine? Have you been praying for the rapture, and are eager to get cracking with this Armageddon thingie? What on God's yellowed-green Earth is in it for you? How is this issue something that counts as a net win for your ego? Did a smartalec hipster rub you the wrong way? Does it make you feel better to know that he overlooked some projected difficulties with wind energy?

As far as this article, it seems like a specialist study designed to help governments assess future needs when planning a transition to renewables. The incomprehensible result, that these findings tickle your ass for some reason, is about as unforeseen as the reported setback in renewables.

A:Wow, you really found that nitpicky talking point that elevates the fossil fuel industry to the same level as the interests of humanity. Isn't it all just a "liberal" scam, if you don't look too closely at the absence of logic? "Yes, it must be. My masters are hinting that that's what I should believe!"

You've made it clear you are consciously ignoring the pollution and global warming. Since your handlers, the conservative establishment whose dismantling of the carbon credit system and environmental destruction you choose to ignore, have made it clear you should bark in this direction, you are eager to please!

Such an admirably domesticated, dependable, subservient human. I'm sure your handlers will throw you a bone while they bring home the bacon for themselves. You're so obedient, you deserve a doggie cookie! Who's a good boy? You are! Yes, you are. U-S-A! Woof woof woof! -- coineineagh
