I asked the question to see if anyone else has used a shortwave radio I can't test the radios in the store so if I buy, and it doesn't work very well, I just burnt my cash!
If You test at store maybe cannot.no have wave ,because thats store buildings using concrete ,so You can try at open sky, or at home use concrete can block wave too

I am sure any kind of political radio station is blocked. Other radio stations like the BBC that often deal with sensitive issues will probably be blocked also. If you manage to receive any English radio stations that are not just some Chinese with bad English trying to brainwash, PM me.
do you really want to be caught in china with a radio that gets intl radio? every time they report on dissidents they claim they were using SW to communicate with outside influences

this have a litter exageration , evey day millions people use radio to listen international radion stations. students listen for study english, old man listen for know foreign informations.
i use the internet you can get any radio station you want
Why cant you use the internet and get podcasts of radio stations? I havn't tried but bat22 suggests it will work. Does the great firewall block such things and if that is the case is it just then a matter to get a VPN? That way you dont need to go to the expense of buying a radio.
SW radio in general is never scrambled, Chinese government will not randomize the SW Radio, all depends from where lit,
