Q: With effect from Mar 28

Not exactly a question, but foreign nationals with valid visas/residence permits are temporarily suspended from entering China.

China: Temporary Suspension of Entry by Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Visas

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced:

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China National Immigration Administration Announcement on the Temporary Suspension of Entry by Foreign Nationals Holding Valid Chinese Visas or Residence Permits

March 26, 2020

In view of the rapid spread of COVID-19 across the world, China has decided to temporarily suspend the entry into China by foreign nationals holding visas or residence permits still valid to the time of this announcement, effective from 0 a.m., 28 march 2020. Entry by foreign nationals with APEC Business Travel Cards will be suspended as well. Policies including port visas, 24/72/144-hour visa-free transit policy, Hainan 30-day visa-free policy, 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign cruise-group-tour through Shanghai Port, Guangdong 144-hour visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups from Hong Kong or Macao SAR, and Guangxi 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups of ASEAN countries will also be temporarily suspended. Entry with diplomatic, service, courtesy or C visas will not be affected. Foreign nationals coming to China for necessary economic, trade, scientific or technological activities or out of emergency humanitarian needs may apply for visas at Chinese embassies or consulates. Entry by foreign nationals with visas issued after this announcement will not be affected.

The suspension is a temporary measure that China is compelled to take in light of the outbreak situation and the practices of other countries. China will stay in close touch with all sides and properly handle personnel exchanges with the rest of the world under the special circumstances. The above-mentioned measures will be calibrated in light of the evolving situation and announced accordingly.

Yes,when? I left everything ,all my personal belongings, original documents, medication, just took 2 sets of clothes and ranout cos my employer made it seem like an emergency, that we exit China, together with my daughter we left, now stranded in a foreign country and cannot go home due to travel restrictions,we need to go back to China,we did not expect it to take so long, and i cannot find the medication i need here,so much for humanitarianism,China is our second home,we have residency,we love China but we dont like how they are treating foreigners,as teachers we do contribute to the Economy, pertaining to transforming their Education by providing quality education and training to Chinese children, why do we have to suffer due to the pandemic.so they should have left us to stay at our residence, however a month after that my contract was terminated by the school due to the pandemic.

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
