Q: Exchange more than 500 USD on the same day if you got to different branches?

A comment on the below article caught my eye. The person (last comment) said that they go to different bank branches to exchange more than 500 USD in a single day (I'm assuming the person is exchanging cash and not out of an account). First, is this true? Have others done this before? I'm suspicious since you'd think previous transactions would show up in banking records. Second, if you have done this, have there been any consequences/repercussions once the bank figures out that you exchanged multiple times in one day? I'm all about finding ways of exchanging more money so I don't have to go to the bank everyday, but this seems too good to be true.

If you have some worries then go with some of your friends with their passport..rather than multiplying branches you can multiply the number of people and get your work done

Peter, I don't know what city you are in but where I am, the limit for exchanging RMB to USD for foreigners is not USD  500.00 per day but rather USD 5,000.00 per day.

A:My friends who are managing schools still can't recruit from outside of China because of the borders being closed, as far as I know that doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon. If you have a current existing residence permit etc you can re-enter the country, going through the usual quarantine process obviously but no new visas are being issued. I don't know about business visas but I suspect it wouldn't be much different. For up to date info you could probably contact the Chinese embassy in your country. -- Stiggs
