Q: Has anyone taken advantage of the Air Asia flights out of Beijing?

I recently found out that all Air Asia operations in Tianjin have been moved to Beijing which means you travel directly from Beijing to Malaysia or Thailand with Air Asia. Has anyone taken a flight with them yet? And are they as cheap as some people claim?

I haven't flown out of China with airasia yet (planning to when my contract ends this year, so I've looked at all the routes) but I've flown with them many times before, both around SE Asia and doing the now defunct London-KL route.

Usually their prices are very changeable; yes, you find flights as low as advertised but you need to be just a little bit flexible with the date you fly. From one day to the next there can be as much as a 50 per cent difference in prices, so when you're looking, put in a wide range of dates to get the best deal. If you're only looking to fly one way, they usually work out much cheaper than the competition, if you're flying return, then their advantages diminishes considerably against the full-service airlines.

In terms of service and comfort, and food quality, I find them to be not far at all behind most full-service airlines, and ahead of some. The hostesses are uniformly gracious and friendly. The food is edible and not usually too expensive.

looked at both air asia and scoot (Tianjin) to fly to SE asia both have ridiculous prices compared to full service airlines. But when you add the extra fees like IFE, choose a seat, food, luggage, and other charges they whack on it can add up to nearly the same price as the full service airlines.

I haven't flown out of Beijing with this flight company as of yet but I'm sure I'm bound to one day. I've flown on nearly all the airlines that China has to offer so far. If the price is right and the only flight I can get on to get to my destination is Air Asia then I will be flying on that plane. I prefer Hainan Airlines however but it's always good to try something new at least once.

Well, why do you really have to add all the extras?

Just add luggage...you can opt out of the rest..

I fly from Shenzhen though. Bangkok - 1300 RMB, Kuala Lumpur 1800 (those

are return flights). You just have to buy 'em in advance, otherwise they'll double.

Air Asia rules.

I register with Air Asia, and they email me their specials. I try to base my travel around the specials, but if not, I look at their flights for different days and find the cheapies. Once out of Australia most flights are so cheap, and I like the service. If you dont want to pay for the extras then dont use them... lunch, baggage, choosing the seat etc.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
