Q: How come the Yao Jiaxin case got so much press, but this worse case is barely mentioned?

WHile both are horrible, the second one involving the kid never gets talked about.....

BEIJING — Police in southeast China have detained a motorist for allegedly killing a child he had first hit by accident, in the latest suspected murder of a hit-and-run victim, state press said Monday.
Saturday's accident in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province, comes after a man was sentenced to death last month in China for fatally stabbing a woman after first hitting her with his car, the Global Times said.

ok i should not have cursed.
chinese men in particular need to have some real pride in their country and love for their own people. if someone runs over a child numerous times you show your love for your country and people by pulling that monster out of the car and give him the same treatment. when the police come all the witnesses say the dead man killed the girl then he had an "accident" and died himself

The guy in the Beamer ran off though, he didn't know he'd actually run someone over before he got out of his car. You actually see him try to lift the car up before realizing its too late. I don't know if that man ever turned himself in. I hope he did, he may have run off out of complete shock.

I knew a man who did the same thing. Backed over a child and the kid died. He was never the same, his job demoted him to just walking around the site picking up trash for 25 years, that was all he could do, it just messed him up too much.

I never want to see a video like that one again, horrifying.

Well, to me, this is more of an issue about how one got so much more press than another.

He ran over something and then moved his car forward to check out what he had hit (foolish mistake number 1). This because it is impossible to see such a small boy so close to the car using the mirrors.

He then goes to see what he had hit and realised it was a small boy, he had left his handbrake off and the car returned (foolish mistake number 2). He tried to stop the car in the only way he could.

He checked the boy and realised that the worst had happened, panicked and went into shock. Left his car (foolish mistake number 3) and the child and wandered away to probably sit somewhere in shock.

He didn't need to turn himself in as he left his car and the police would have him before the end of the day. I don't believe his intention was to escape.

I think it was just an unfortunate accident and I don't think he will ever get over it.

My question is how can the parents let such a small child play on the road! They should be sent to prison too.

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
