Q: How do we grow the population, cut the cost of kids?
https://www.yahoo.com/news/exclusive-china-planning-crackdown-private-091232631.html
Get rid of weekend tutoring for math and science, no tutoring classes at schools. It seems the cost of extra classes may prevent the parents having a second child needed to rebuild the country when all the old people pass away. Demographics may actually cause training schools to decline or disappear. Time to short New Oriental stock.

Fudging the numbers already, no surprise really.
I believe that China should hope that their population is cut in half. Due to One Child Policy, there are far more boys than girls. Unless many of them boys turn gay, China boys will have to look outside the boundaries of China for a wife.
Not to mention, every year with so many graduates, good playing jobs are difficult to find for them. They tend to have to settle for low paying retain and food service work.
Less people means less natural resources and agriculture required to operate the country. Lessens the need for extensive imports from other countries.
Sure, the GDP will fall a bit, but it would eventually become a new normal for China.

Yes, every media narrative is always bad about falling demographics but there is a good side. Japan and Russia have survived 30 percent dips so far without too much complications. After it drops, fast forward 50 years and the CCP will be bragging about how brilliant the idea was and what a great plan we came up with and the negative stories will just disappear.

... butT ... the whole matter of Chinese control of population growth didn't include today's higher GDP ...
They will certainly have problems with the living space at any increase of populace ... as they already experience ... today.

Well it seems the rich schools with western education for diplomats and foreigners living in China just disappeared. Not a good way to get professional talent to help your economy. I guess China is a fully developed independent country with no foreign intellectual needs. CONGRATULATIONS

Exactly how long ago did people say the planet had too many people. I guess they were wrong.

Perhaps the men are just stuck in the "friend zone". I will happily take a few of the ladies off your hands. Now where did I put the blue pills

You can now have 3 kids, now go home and fornicate for the fatherland, that's an order.
You have to change people's mind and make them realize children are just a part of life.
ambivalentmace:
As humans gain knowledge and money, they realize the long term cost and sacrifice involved to raise children. The poor and uninformed just do it because they don't know any better. The higher the income per capita, the lower the birth rate. This wont change any time soon. The price of progress and enlightenment.
You don't. China has over 1.5 billion people.... it's smaller than the USA, which has 300 million. It's already causing global overpopulation issues

Head of world's 'largest family' dies in India, leaving behind 39 wives and 94 childrenA family photograph of the Ziona family, with a total of 181 members. Ziona Chana, 67, is at the front
Demographics are the future and China's demographics look really bad for the foreseeable future, no three or four children policy is going to change that.
