Q: How many kids would Chinese people have if they could?

On average are they likely to have 3 or 4 kids a family or would it be more like 2 kids?

I think that in the countryside they would probably have more kids(3-5), while in the cities, especially tier 1 cities,  they would have fewer(no more than 2), because living in cities is more expensive.

Getting married at the age of 15, no concept of birth control and an average of 25 child bearing years.  Add to that the low mortality rate in rural areas and I think that seeing families with 10 or more kids would not be uncommon.  The average would be somewhere in the 5 kid range.

Remember, the more kids they raise, the more to work the farm or go to the cities to work there so they can provide for the parents when they are old.

If I was a typical Chinese man I would  want as many kids as I could.  Unlike western so called capitalist countries Chinese parents have to rely on their children for support if they don't have money...the state will provide them with sweet bugger all...a pitance.

Canada has more aspects of real socialism enacted into its laws than China does...hmmmm.

nevermind:

I usesd to point that out to nationalistic chinese dinks all the time. "Socialist? You don't even have free healthcare!"

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
