Former CIA officer charged with spying for China, conspiring with relative who was also ex-CIA

A former CIA officer is accused of selling classified information to Chinese intelligence officials in exchange for thousands of dollars in gifts and cash as part of an alleged spying operation that ran for more than a decade, according to federal court documents.

The espionage charge was unsealed Monday against Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, 67, who is alleged to have provided Chinese officials with information about CIA personnel, operations and the agency's methods for concealing communications.

Federal prosecutors allege that Ma, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in Hong Kong, conspired with an 85-year-old relative who also served as a former CIA officer.

"We Just Passed A Guy In A Jet Pack": FBI Investigating After Pilots Report Sighting At 3,000 Feet

Wed, 09/02/2020 - 15:20

The FBI is now involved after an American Airlines pilot claims he saw a man in a jet pack on Sunday night while he was on final approach near Los Angeles International Airport, according to the LA Times. The flight was American Airlines Flight 1997 from Philadelphia.

“Tower, American 1997. We just passed a guy in a jet pack,” the pilot is heard telling the tower at LAX.

The tower responded:

“American 1997, OK, thank you. Were they off to your left or right side?”

The pilot responded:

“Off the left side, maybe 300 yards or so, about our altitude.”

A second pilot from a Jet Blue flight also confirmed seeing the person: “We just saw the guy pass us by in the jet pack.”

“Only in L.A.,” the tower muttered.

Seth Young, a pilot and a professor of aviation at Ohio State University, told the NY Times: “The risk is obviously having a collision with that airplane or getting a drone, or the person getting ingested into an engine. We have these issues with birds flying within congested airspace, as well.”

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said:

“The FBI is aware of the reports by pilots on Sunday and is working to determine what occurred.”

The agency confirmed on Tuesday that it was now involved in an investigation.

The FAA said it had also confirmed the report, telling the LA Times: “Two airline flight crews reported seeing what appeared to be someone in a jet pack as they were on their final approach to LAX around 6:35 p.m. Sunday. The FAA alerted local law enforcement to the reports and is looking into these reports."

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
