4 Dead, 11 Wounded In Mass Shooting During Madden 2019 Tournament In Jacksonville

Sun, 08/26/2018 - 14:36

According to CNN's Steve Brusk, the police are warning people to avoid the area as the gunman may be at large. The ATF is also responding to the scene.

This mass shooting occurred during a Madden 19 tournament at the GLHF restaurant at Jacksonville Landing. Police are warning people to avoid area - gunman may not yet be in custody

A livestream from the gaming tournament captured the moment the gunfire broke out. The commentators could be heard going silent as the first gunshots were fired and people began screaming. The stream then cut out and a message appeared saying 'controller disconnected'.

One of the gamers, Drini Gjoka, revealed his horror after he was shot in the hand and ran for his life.

'The tourney just got shot up. I'm leaving and never coming back. I am literally so lucky. The bullet hit my thumb. Worst day of my life,' he tweeted.

'I will never take anything for granted ever again. Life can be cut short in a second.'

Videos show the moment gunfire erupted (viewer discretion advised).

I read that the shooter was a player there who had lost the game. Rather than say 'oh well, it's only a game, the better player won' and all that, or even throw the controller at the screen and have a good sulk he decided to shoot the place up.

Losing a game can be incredibly frustrating. When you have a moment of blind rage...

Yay, access to a gun, let's do something regrettable and irreversible.

This is a clear case where US gun laws are the cause of death. But remember, now is not the time to talk about it.

Guns for police: YES. [bobbies need them, Britain]
Guns for security: NO [don't just hand 'em to every weirdo fitness fanatic, Germany]
Guns for civilians: NO [laws about muskets need to adapt to the age of semi-automatics]

Well hell, who's suprised?  Aren't about half those 'games' about shooting up people anyway?  That's what they do for 'fun' and how they live their 'cyber life' (or whatever u call it), so I'm not too suprised he takes it into reality too.

I heard he at least had the good sense to blow his own brains out too.

My money is on the shooter being a Democrat. Democrats are trained to have a victim mentality. I'm willing to be proven wrong.

Crashed five good expensive planes and wanted wars all over the world. See you in hell you piece of shit. A gigolo who never had a real job living off Coors family beer money and making America pay for his neocon bullshit.

I just saw on the news...  some of the gamers are suing the competition organisers for not having better security.

Legal action for not having smoke alarms or fire extinguishers or open manholes or something I understand, but when people holding an event need to plan around a psycho shooting the place up things are getting absurd.

Unless you're living on the Gaza strip or somewhere similar the risk of an encounter with a mass shooter should be up there with lightning strikes and alien abductions  -not even worth considering - not food poisoning or slipping on a wet floor.

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
