Q: 'Mom, you don't need to drag me. I will jump first'. These two should marry an android

local video:  http://m.sohu.com/a/192437137_391320 (may need to scroll down a bit depending on your browser)

Location: Beijing. Date:   Sept. 9, 2017. Story. Husband left family for three months to stay with another girl. Wife wanted to jump with daughter from home and commit suicide. Neighbor (woman in video) said, 'the family is not harmonious, she earns rmb 10,000 a month and the husband is jobless'.

Husband showed up after three hours. Wife ordered him to kneel on both knees which he obeyed.  Wife yelled, 'I only want a child and a family, I do not want a house with a car, yet you abandoned us and go live with that woman'.

Child (in video) begged her mother not to die. She cried, "mom, you don't have to drag me, I will jump first,  I will always be with you".

Would the use of public pressure work in bringing the guy back?

emotional blackmail and drama seems to be the way to go in China to achieve some short term goal.

How many grandparents fake illness to force son/daughter to marry/have a child through pure selfishness?

as pointed out, how many girls (or guys) use the words 'if you love me you would........'.

How many parents force son/daughter on to a career path that said son/daughter have little interest or aptitude for, purely to be able to gain 'face' - the result of which is people who half-ass the work?

Chinese people don't seem to do 'listening' and 'communication' very well, relying on the behaviour of 5 year olds to get what they want (screw the consequences or healthy relationships)

Note: emotional blackmail is not an expression of love

So I'm gonna make a show and act like I want to kill myself to win an argument and bring my daughter out with me. Talk about emotional blackmail

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
