Q: Obama, the legacy...

So, Obama's presidency is winding down after eight years in.  Give me the good, the bad, and the ugly about him.

I will start with the ugly...ugly, ugly mistake the retard Nobel Peace Prize Folks did to tarnish their award.

People get too excited either way. Liberal progressives feel like it was a huge victory agianst the entrenched forces of old. Social and fiscal conservatives believe that he ruined the country permanently and is secretly a muslim.

I think objectively he came into a pretty shitty starting situation and managed not to make it any worse but didn't make it significantly better.

the nobel panel in norway did fuck up real bad, but the 70 percent white vote for this piece of shit because they had been brainwashed with "white guilt complex" or "white privilege" is something i will never forgive my fellow americans for, i hope obama and jimmy carter have a nice place in hell together, the worse part is americans who happen to be black are actually worse off than they were eight years ago and now we have low skilled immigrants flooding the country to create a poor permanent underclass to keep the democratic party in power for half a century with no money to pay for anything. it really stinks and it could have been avoided, i left when it happened, hoped i was wrong, but sadly i was right, and now have no home country to return to, these problems cant be fixed, its over, i just hope i die before its a debt ridden third world country.

He did a whole lot less damage than GWB.

The President doesn't have as much power as people think. Even if you have control of the House and the Senate then you can still be hamstrung by the factionalization of your own party.

Politicians in America have to do deals with the devil if they want to be in power. Saying no to lobbyist money is a fast track to electoral defeat.

I didn't like the way Obama dealt with the Assange/Snowden thing but I guess he didn't have much choice.

America could do a whole lot worse than Obama. It could elect a toupee'd, loud-mouthed, xenophobic, misogynistic, rapist. We will have to wait and see.

The fact that he brought no change to America,  and that he seeks redemption in foreign policies to make up for it.  IE, the Iran deal, and in light to his domestic failings, the Cuba deal and the declaration that "There will be change!" there.

His embarrassment in Syria will be swept under the rug.  Obama destroyed relations with Russia, which has proven a key partner in fighting extremist Islamic terrorism, he semi encouraged a failed rebellion in Ukraine which forced Russia to get nasty, and instead pushed them closer to closer cooperation with America's chief competitor.    Only a Trump Presidency can restore a better American-Russian relationship.

I heard they plan to give an Oscar Award for best actor to Nicholas Cage for a movie he plans to do in the future. The committee decided to go ahead and give him the award b/c they honestly think he will give an Oscar winning performance...

At the moment, I would say he has been ineffective.

Internationally, stuff I like is the Iran Deal, talking to Cuba, strong stance with Isreal, and developing relations around the world. Stuff I don't like.... Syrian war, backing up Saudi Arabia.

He should never have accepted the peace prize.

But we won't know his legacy for sure till after the first term of the next president.  I suspect after a year of Trump people will be wishing he was back in charge.

Its the the work that is done in the background that is important. Not the bombastic stuff that is broadcast to gain approval points. The important stuff goes on without people even knowing it.

Considering the astounding adversity and blockage from the right he has endured for the last 7 years, it's a miracle what he was able to achieve.

The Republicans have spent 8 years doing what they openly admitted over and over again...spend all their resources to make everything he tries a failure, regardless of the national best interest.

These treasonous motivations are deep seeded in centuries old racial hatred and blind xenophobia.

As disappointed as I am in his need to form a consensus between parties, at least now he admits his effort to bridge the enormous ideological gap was a futile waste of time.

Obama has had to endure far greater obstacles and burdens to achieve a fraction of what he would have done otherwise, unlike any president in modern times.

Unlike Bush Jr., history will judge Obama as a great president, for what he has accomplished and what his progress will lead to.

Has he been perfect in all his decisions?  Hell no, but I shutter at the thought of what America and the world would look like after 7 years of a McCain/Palin administration (or 3 years of Romney/Ryan) compared to today.

Let us never forget it was not just the financial meltdown in 2008 but also the middle east quagmire he inherited from W.   Considering the mess he was dealt, and the borderline treasonous acts of the Republican congress over the years, he has done a remarkable job.

Insulting the President based on a knee jerk spontaneous decision by the Nobel Foundation is asinine...judge him on what he has and will achieve in the future based on his administrations choices and actions.

I am your black savior and the hope and change of the world, listen to me talk about myself saying "I" 56 times instead we Americans, your not important, it's all about me, so shut up and listen to this elite tell you what is best for your for your own good.

What a legacy. oh how the mighty have fallen,

Hey, a little word of advise, try doing some manual labor and get those fingernails dirty with something that is not pot or pussy for once in your life, like work a soup kitchen or build some houses with Jimmy Carter so you want be ranked below Jimmy in the written history of the fallen American empire, most ex-presidents keep their mouth shut because they understand the word, so should lousy college professors know the word also, "ex".

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
