The lights thing... I've been told people think they're saving gas and/ or wear and tear on the light bulbs. It might be true for some I suppose. Someone told me it flattens the battery once, she had no idea cars recharge the battery as they drive.

What I think it mostly is though is just drivers being oblivious to danger. The same people that wouldn't think to check their mirrors before changing lanes/ pulling out into traffic or looking left and right so they don't get smoked by a bus when they cross the road would never think about how they might be near invisible to other drivers.

Yeah I saw a few really nasty scooter crashes too. One happened right in front of me.

I was waiting to cross the road and there was a worker pushing one of those 3 wheel trike things loaded with stuff across the street, I remember watching the trike and the scooter coming towards it really fast and wondering when the guy on the scooter was planning on slowing down or was he thinking he'd swerve around it or what....

He T-boned it, didn't even seem to realise it was there until he was about 5 meters away - far too late to stop or turn. God knows how he didn't see it, it was right in front of him.

Something I never understood about the roads in China is how people aren't looking for things like that while they're driving. When I learnt to drive about a hundred years ago it was drummed into us ... what's happening ahead of you, what potential hazards are there, how will you react if that kid on the side of the road runs out into the street ahead of you or whatever.... Local drivers often seem to focus on a spot just in front of them and nothing beyond that exists until it's too late to do anything about it.

Yeah I know the sound. I was in a taxi once on a busy road, 2 lanes each way at rush hour, the traffic was pretty much bumper to bumper and not moving slowly.

Some guy stepped out into the road, presumably trying to cross (but why the feck would you try to cross there!) but later I wondered if it was a suicide attempt or something. A car in the lane next to us hit him, no way they could avoid him - I heard the impact and saw him cartwheeling in the air, poor bugger would have landed on the road and probably got run over by the cars following.

Content of repair kit is dissolvent ('cause original battery is glued to the casing ...), glue, eyes protection, gloves and 3 special screwdrivers.

Other option once battery is by its end is purchasing of the new machine, however this one still works well.

Cost for battery in EU is 90 EUR, which I find it expensive ... comparable to US price of US$ 65 (50 EUR). EU is some high-tax-NOT-heaven ... bastards!

3. Who would Chinese/PCC (Party of Chineez Commies) prefer as a new US Leader?

Here's What Chinese Citizens Saw The Moment Pence Spoke About China In Debate

Thu, 10/08/2020 - 15:05

This one is funny ...

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/heres-what-chinese-citizens-saw-m...

Chinese national media aired Wednesday night's vice presidential debate between Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris, however, Chinese censors cut off the feed at the moment US policy toward China was raised.

The debate feed was cut inside China apparently in order to prevent citizens from hearing Pence criticize the Chinese Communist government. While the rest of the world heard Pence explain how “China is to blame” for the coronavirus pandemic, this is what viewers inside China beheld on their screen through the duration of the comments:

It was first noted in a viral tweet by Canada’s Globe and Mail correspondent Nathan Vander Klippe based in Beijing.

He took a photo of his TV screen in Beijing at the moment China was raised by the moderator, noting "China censored Pence’s comments on China. Signal returned when Harris began talking again."

The text written in both Chinese and English asked viewers to stand by, perhaps misleadingly giving the impression there was a 'technical difficulty'.

“How would you describe our fundamental relationship with China? Are we competitors, adversaries, enemies?” debate moderator Susan Page had asked.

However it was clear the communist authorities wanted to censor Pence's comments such as the following:

“China and the World Health Organization did not play straight with the American people,” Pence added. “They did not let our personnel into China to get information on the coronavirus until the middle of February.”

Interestingly the feed did return in time for Harris to respond in a more China-friendly way with, “The Trump administration’s perspective and approach to China has resulted in the loss of American lives, American jobs, and America’s standing.”

Harris was accused in Conservative media of dodging the question, as she didn't explain further but pivoted to charging President Trump with having “a weird obsession” with undoing any of the “accomplishments” of the Obama administration.

The whole episode also makes clear Beijing's preference for who it would like to see in the White House. And if there does end up being a foreign policy debate between Trump and Biden, currently very much up in the air and in doubt, we don't expect China to air it at all.

I am not sure, if such trains exist in EU and USA 'cause I rarely use trains there.

Best Evidence Yet That Coronavirus Came From BSL-4 Lab

No, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is not a biological weapon. But that doesn't mean the virus didn't escape from a laboratory. A growing body of circumstantial evidence indicates that very well may be what happened.

When the novel coronavirus, now known as SARS-CoV-2, emerged from China, conspiracy theorists -- including a prominent cable news host -- were quick to point out that Wuhan is host to a "biological weapons" lab. Thus, according to the conspiracy, the virus was a leaked bioweapon.

There are two gigantic problems with that theory. First, there is no reason to believe that the Wuhan laboratory is in the business of producing biological weapons. The lab is a high-security facility, known as biosafety level 4 (BSL-4), similar to the ones we have at the CDC in Atlanta.

Second, the SARS-CoV-2 genome was sequenced by China and released to the public (and subsequently sequenced many more times). If China actually built a biological weapon, they would not have handed over the recipe so quickly and easily. Besides, a study published in Nature Medicine uses a genetic analysis to show convincingly that the virus evolved in an animal and jumped into humans.

But that doesn't mean the "jump" occurred in a wet market, as was assumed at the beginning of the pandemic. The reason that assumption was made was two-fold: (1) It's the simplest and most likely explanation; and (2) It happened before with SARS.

As the weeks and months have gone by, however, circumstantial evidence is piling up that the virus actually came from the Wuhan BSL-4 laboratory. Once again, it is not a biological weapon. Instead, it appears that Chinese scientists were studying a novel virus they found, and it accidentally infected a worker and "escaped" from the lab.

Evidence that SARS-CoV-2 Came from the Wuhan Lab

An excellent investigative report by Jim Geraghty for the center-right National Review extensively documents the evidence. The highlights of his report include:

  • *Job postings at the Wuhan facility for scientists to study coronaviruses and bats.

*An announcement that new viruses had been discovered.

*When she learned of the outbreak, a Chinese virologist known as "Bat Woman" (because of her hunt for viruses in bat caves) wondered if the virus came from her lab.

*The virology institute denied the existence of the person rumored to be "patient zero", a grad student named Huang Yanling. Information about her has been removed from the institute's website, and her whereabouts are unknown. The institute now claims she is in good health.

Now, CNN reports that China is censoring any research related to the origin of the virus. According to the article, an online announcement said that "[s]tudies on the origin of the virus will receive extra scrutiny and must be approved by central government officials."

That announcement, as it so happens, was later removed, providing the best evidence yet that China is once again covering something up.

Who took a spade?

https://news.yahoo.com/taking-page-authoritarians-trump-turns-151748832....

President Trump takes a step that even Nixon avoided

President Donald Trump’s order to his secretary of state to declassify thousands of Hillary Clinton’s emails, along with his insistence that his attorney general issue indictments against Barack Obama and Joe Biden, takes his presidency into new territory — until now, occupied by leaders with names like Putin, Xi and Erdogan.

Trump has long demanded — quite publicly, often on Twitter — that his most senior cabinet members use the power of their office to pursue political enemies. But his appeals this week, as he trailed badly in the polls and was desperate to turn the national conversation away from the coronavirus, were so blatant that one had to look to authoritarian nations to make comparisons.

WHO (Accidentally) Confirms Covid Is No More Dangerous than Flu

Head of Health Emergencies Program “best estimates” put IFR at 0.14%

October 12, 2020

The World Health Organization has finally confirmed what we (and many experts and studies) have been saying for months – the coronavirus is no more deadly or dangerous than seasonal flu.

The WHO’s top brass made this announcement during a special session of the WHO’s 34-member executive board on Monday October 5th, it’s just nobody seemed to really understand it.

In fact, they didn’t seem to completely understand it themselves.

At the session, Dr Michael Ryan, the WHO’s Head of Emergencies revealed that they believe roughly 10% of the world has been infected with Sars-Cov-2. This is their “best estimate”, and a huge increase over the number of officially recognised cases (around 35 million).

Dr. Margaret Harris, a WHO spokeswoman, later confirmed the figure, stating it was based on the average results of all the broad seroprevalence studies done around the world.

As much as the WHO were attempting to spin this as a bad thing – Dr Ryan even said it means “the vast majority of the world remains at risk.” – it’s actually good news. And confirms, once more, that the virus is nothing like as deadly as everyone predicted.

The global population is roughly 7.8 billion people, if 10% have been infected that is 780 million cases. The global death toll currently attributed to Sars-Cov-2 infections is 1,061,539.

Have you looked into teaching online? English or whatever your first language is? It would keep you busy and make you some beer money. Some of the online teachers out there have quite a good following.

When we went into lockdown here I made a list of things I always thought I'd like to do if I had the time. I worked out and went for long runs or walks every day, read a lot, learned to cook some cool new recipes, listened to some TED talks and online lectures, did online yoga classes, spent a lot of time on a chair in the sun, watched a few movies, did some writing... was super pissed I couldn't go fishing, surfing or even to the beach. I remember thinking I could have done with another month at home to maybe do an online course - learn a useful skill. I came out of it feeling quite good, a lot of people just got drunk, smoked meth for 5 weeks and went quietly insane.

If you put your mind to it you can probably turn a shit situation into something positive.

I'll might return back to trading. I am doing it occassionally, but I guess I'll have to open my 'home office ... ' and get rich again, he he.

Teaching online doesn't ring my tune. I had few offers at the beginning while I was applying for work in classroom in EU, but Spaniards and Italians turned all into online teaching offers and in real classroom offers they all require English nativity and then they don't offer anything. Miniscule pay for 30 classes a week and no other benes. Once, you must get your own house in EU, you'll spend more than half of your pay for it, so what's the point?

I guess, teaching is out ...

Yeah I looked at online teaching too, not much money in it but I was thinking it would be more just something to do if I got bored. I'd have to be really bored though, I can't see doing it online being something I'd enjoy.

Hobbies man. If there's anything that interests you now's the time to persue it.

I was seriously looking a month ago at pickin' up fruits in Oz or NZ, but ... I have 3-months visa free access to both countries, but then I must exit .. I have never been in this part of the world, which is another attraction ..

Not too many fruit picking Co's there engage into Working visas for workers and then ... as I know, both countries were/are closed for travel into ... and I just gave up on fruits, he he.

Have another 'hobby' on my mind for the last 5-years, ... but, I shouldn't write about on public thread.

A lot of backpackers come here on working holiday visas, or did before covid at least, and work on the orchards.

Right now orchardists are stressing about the lack of workers, they can't do without them so keep an eye on the situation, it might change.

The 2 weeks quarantine would suck though.

While, I look at that quarantine thingy simple ... if it's a requirement, you just have to sit on your arse for two weeks before you hit the streets. Only bad thing of quarantine is cost, which is unnecessary once you want to travel or work in another country.

I saw an advert for fruits at Oz newspaper I am reading daily (news.com.au) and I read they are hungry for crew in both countries. Biggest problem is to travel there from EU for 3-months stint. I mean, when I was young, I hit Cote d'Azur for 2 months for grapes, but it was minimal expense 'cause hitchhike and sleeping by the road in a bag.

Now, travelling cost a lot more especially once you change continents. It wasn't I was thinking to get rich ... in Oz/NZ, but just to get even also isn't worth it.

I am pretty easy going about diseases and sicknesses ... I have a disease, but I manage it all better without MDs.

They require check-ups every 6-months ... I did check-ups for long time on every 3-years once ... and my glucose was in normal levels.

Sooo .., I see MDs .. and I better run away!

I understand not caring if we get a dose of it, my concern would be passing it on to someone who does care if they catch a dose.

The elderly couple next door, the kid with bad asthma who works at the supermarket, the solo mother working two jobs or the guy running his own small business who simply can't afford to get sick and stop working for however long it takes, the dude recovering from a recent heart attack, the mother fighting cancer, anyone in a country where having to go to hospital could bankrupt the family...

Is the cure worse than the disease? Man, that's a tough question, damned if I know. Do you ignore it, let it go through the population killing however many people its going to kill or do you close the country down, try to eliminate or at least control it and wreck the economy? Its seriously bad shit either way, one of those 'rock and a hard place' situations.

If this was a little more or less serious it would be an obvious decision, either say very few are being affected so forget about it or this is too scary to ignore. As it is we're kind of in the middle.

yeah,,, I was speaking from purely selfish POV meaning I don't care if I get it oor not,,,but I'd probably wise-up and be considerate of others If I were diagnosed positive.

Sometime I think it's going to be worse than Spanish Flu.  I mean it doesn't look like it's going away any time soon.  US still getting spikes.  I guess regular Flu has been w/ us forever,,,  wipes out 1000's upon 1000's every year and sure doesn't look like it's going away.

Yep, unless it dies out on its own - and I doubt that's likely - it looks like it's here for good, there's no putting this evil genie back in the box . Even if an effective vaccine is found I think the anti-vac crowd and social media will do their best to keep us all infested.

Winter is coming fast, numbers are spiking and hospitals are starting to feel the strain, I have a horrible feeling we're going to see some ugly shit on tv.

A: In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in releva
A:In my personal experience, teaching certificates have varied in relevance depending on the context and location. Here's a breakdown of each aspect:a) Getting the teaching job: Teaching certificates can certainly enhance your chances of securing a teaching position, especially in formal educational settings such as schools and language institutions. Many employers prefer candidates who have undergone specific training in pedagogy and instructional techniques, which these certificates often provide. However, other factors such as experience, references, and the demand for teachers in a particular area also play significant roles in the hiring process.b) Getting a higher salary than your uncertified competitors: In some cases, holding a teaching certificate can indeed lead to a higher salary compared to uncertified competitors. Many educational institutions have structured salary scales that take into account factors such as level of education, years of experience, and additional certifications. Holding a teaching certificate may place you in a higher salary bracket or make you eligible for certain salary incentives or bonuses. However, this can vary widely depending on the specific policies of the institution or organization.c) Getting promotions: Teaching certificates can be beneficial for career advancement and securing promotions within the field of education. They demonstrate a commitment to professional development and mastery of teaching skills, which are qualities that many employers value when considering candidates for leadership positions or administrative roles. Additionally, some promotions may require specific certifications or qualifications, making holding a teaching certificate essential for advancement in certain cases.Regarding which certificate yields better results, it largely depends on the specific requirements of the job market and the educational context in which you intend to work. For example:A Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) is often highly regarded in formal school settings and can be advantageous for those seeking positions in primary or secondary education.Montessori certification is valuable for individuals interested in working in Montessori schools or implementing Montessori principles in their teaching approach.A Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate is particularly relevant for those seeking to teach English to non-native speakers in international contexts or language schools.Ultimately, the best certificate for you will depend on your career goals, the specific requirements of the positions you're interested in, and the preferences of potential employers in your target job market. It's essential to research the requirements and preferences of employers in your desired field and tailor your qualifications accordingly. -- ruqaiya761
