Q: Is the rule never help anybody in China, especially Mom?

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-college-student-guthrie-mclean-chinese-prison-mother-jennifer-mclean-says-university-of-montana/

This reminds me of the other incident where they tied mom up and the chinese boy stabbed and killed one and injured 3 more and got a death sentence but the case was appealed because of the uproar.

bad press world wide, this cab driver better be really hurt or all hell will break loose.

I am sickened by this article. The kid was basically pulling an insane taxi driver off his deaf mother (she teaches deaf children in China, helping the country) over a dispute when the mother demanded she was given change and the taxi driver didn't want to hand it over.

And then three weeks later the police throw him in jail for not paying a crazy amount of money (which he doesn't have). What about the taxi driver? Does he have to pay for the trauma he created on a deaf foreign woman?

Pathetic result, absolutely horrifying. Zhenghou is a crapshoot and I mentioned it many times on his site as one of the worst cities in China... this looks like proof...

If they can pull this crap on these good people, what about you if some angry idiot decides to attack you and your loved ones? How safe are you from this kind of corruption?

Like I said before folks, it is really time to get out. China has lost MASSIVE face from this incident... and this story got a lot of attention... any asshole in China is going to think they can cash in off foreigners now. Time to leave!

I think it's time to pack my things for an exit, it's getting worse than I expected and I don't know anybody more pessimistic than myself.

1.  Lucifer is alive and well.

2. Darwin hit the nail on the head, we are evolved apes.

The rule is be selfish because kind and generous people are being used and discarded like rubbish by the unkind and selfish ones.

Can't even take taxis now...
They were one of the few things China had better than abroad. Affordable, metered, no bullshit. Those days are done.

The problem was clearly that the mom didn't go to the police first, and demand action (well, compensation!) I'm not saying she would have gotten it, but the police might have been less likely to 'help out' the taxi driver.

Clearly, these cops want a nice slice of that 100K pie the driver was after (well, the driver was probably asking for a LOT less... and then the police thought they could screw out more).

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
