I know there has been many scandal in China with yoghurt and milk. Is it safer today in China to simply not eat dairy products?

I have never had a problem, but do keep an eye on dates as many supermarkets don't think twice about making money from rotten milk.
I drink the milk (usually long life imported from Australia) and the yoghurty drink things all the time. I have had no problems. If you are worried about tainted products you better add many things to your list including bananas treated with antifreeze to ripen then quicker and some other chemical that was being used to make strawberries bigger to name a few. Potentially anything is a chance of having something added.
There is scandal and problems with every item of food and drink in China. It's just one of the many things that you just shouldn't think about. Nothing is safe, so just enjoy it while you can.

I always have the pasteurized milk in the little pouches, like kool aid comes in. Never had a problem.
you can sometimes find an imported brand (like French milk) cheaper than Chinese milk. So don't hesitate.
During 4 years here, I have never drink any Chinese milk....(well that's not completely true, because a hot chocolate at Starbuck's or any other coffee shop uses Chinese milk)...:(
Calvin:
Starbuck's has a reputation to protect, as well as the other main food chains.
Sangoku:
Sure Calvin. Nonetheless they use Chinese local brand. And Starbucks is not inside the milk or see the milk producer's production process. They buy the same milk you can find in a supermarket. So they get the same kind of protection as the one in local market....."hope that no scandal comes out with the brand they use".
you should ideally stay away from all dairy products in all countries. things like cow milk, butter, cheese, and ice cream are not meant for human consumption. pin down a legit dr, and he will tell u. theres articles written about it all over the internet
ambivalentmace:
goat milk is much better but expensive and hard to find.
