Q: Off we go ... Iraq 2.0

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04-13/watch-live-president-trump-exp...

President Trump Orders Military Strikes, Huge Blasts Heard In Damascus

.. “you can avoid reality but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality”

-Ayn Rand

Update 1: President Trump has now confirmed that in a combined operation with France and UK, a military strike is now under way against Syria...

“A short time ago, I ordered the United States Armed Forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator, Bashar al-Assad.”

“This massacre was a significant escalation in a pattern of chemical weapons use by that very terrible regime.”

“These are not the actions of a man; they are crimes of a monster instead.”

“The combined American, British, and French response to these atrocities will integrate all instruments of our national power, military, economic, and diplomatic.”

“We are prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents.”

“In 2013, President Putin and his government promised the world that they would guarantee the elimination of Syria’s chemical weapons.”

“Assad’s recent attack and today’s response are the direct result of Russia’s failure to keep that promise. Russia must decide if it will continue down this dark path or if it will join with civilized nations as a force for stability and peace.”

  • *MAY: AUTHORISED FORCES TO CONDUCT TARGETED STRIKES IN SYRIA

  • *MAY: WE ARE ACTING TOGETHER WITH OUR AMERICAN & FRENCH ALLIES

  • *U.K.'S MAY SAYS STRIKE IS LIMITED, TARGETED

  • *MAY: SYRIA'S PERSISTENT PATTERN OF BEHAVIOUR MUST BE STOPPED

  • *MAY: ATTACKS `NOT ABOUT REGIME CHANGE' IN SYRIA

  • *MAY: CAN'T ALLOW CHEMICAL WEAPONS TO BECOME NORMALISED

Mr. Trump has threatened military action against Syria for days as retaliation for a suspected chemical weapons attack by the forces of President Bashar al-Assad on a Damascus suburb last week.

*  *   *

With two Tomahawk-capable destroyers in The Mediterranean Sea, and following "highly confident" intel that Syria launched the chemical attack, NYTimes reports that President Trump is expected to make a statement about Syria on Friday evening at the White House, an administration official said.

Additionally,  Gateway Pundit's Josh Caplan reports that Vice President Mike Pence was seen "'rushing back" to his hotel in Peru amid speculation about possible U.S. military action in Syria.

There is really an incredible hypocrisy behind all this bullshit propaganda that those countries (USA UK FRANCE) are spreading.

They talk about human rights and chemical weapons.... Since how long has Syria a war going on? Is it perhaps because these same countries were funding-either directly or through regional partners-the so-called ' moderate rebels ' who are nothing but jihadist? In This war, how many bombs, grenades, bullets they have sold?

How many  thousands of civilians and children have died because of this?

Yet we are talking again about some alleged Assad's "chemical weapons". What chemical weapons, if we're still looking for Saddam's...

I don't know if stepping in like this is a good or a bad move but I hope it doesn't escalate into a massive cluster fark. It seems like it has the potential to get really ugly.

The Americans only wanted to test the Russian air defenses after they braged how good they were....send in your old technology and see how good the Russian state of the art stuff is...it's just one big weapons test and the civilian population are just test dumbies .
Sad but bet I'm right

Russians were already notified and if you think otherwise, you may but it isn't the case. Its a just a test ground for both Russia and the US to test their toolkits but I can bet they would never take these to their own grounds. Wait when chit hits the fan in Afghanistan as Russians are already there to avenge the chit of 80s and 90s.

I always wondered how people die when caught up next to massive explosions.  Anyone remember the footage of that chemical storage plant blowing up a couple of years ago, not sure where it was,,, oh yeah,,, Tianjin. Now that was a helluva explosion!!

or remember the MOAB not long ago on Afghanistan?  I guess people in close proximity just vaporise,,, or some such ghastly demise.  But I bet it's over quick!

Nothing much but a test ground for the two bulls and few other hogs, now if those who/se families are facing the brunt go and blow other innocents around the world or in our western world particularly, we jump on to call them whatever we can but hush if they get to call us stone-hearted animals.

700,000 dead in Syria alone either by the butcher or by Russians/Allies and seems everything is fine but just don't let the shit blow in our world, right?? What  a sick specie we are as human beings.

Latest Syrian bombing is international war crime committed by USA, UK & France ...

https://www.rt.com/news/424139-un-nato-eu-meeting-syria-strikes/

International bodies are scrambling to meet in the wake of the US-led strike against Syria, which was conducted without a UN mandate, just hours before the OPCW was to begin its on-site inquiry into the Douma gas attack.

US President Donald Trump's decision to rain missiles down on Damascus in the early hours of Saturday, along with the UK and France, was not sanctioned by the United Nations, and bypassed an on-the-ground fact-finding mission into the alleged April 7 gas attack in Eastern Ghouta. The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) was scheduled to begin its on-site investigation on Saturday.

Numerous international bodies and governments are now convening to take stock of the situation.

Moscow calls for emergency UN Security Council session

Moscow has called for an emergency session of the UN Security Council to discuss "the aggressive actions of the US and its allies," according to a Kremlin statement. The meeting will be held Saturday afternoon, according to Reuters.

The strikes represent an "an aggression against a sovereign state which is at the forefront of the fight against terrorism," Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a statement released on Saturday. Putin stressed that the multi-national strikes were carried out "in violation of the UN Charter and principles of international law" and will have "a devastating impact on the whole system of international relations."

Moscow repeatedly warned the US and its allies against attacking Syria, urging instead for an impartial investigation into the alleged chemical attack.

Responding to the US-led airstrikes on Damascus, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that all countries are obliged to "act consistently" with the UN Charter. "There's an obligation, particularly when dealing with the matters of peace and security, to act consistently with the Charter of the United Nationals and with international law in general."

EU foreign ministers to "consult each other" on strikes

Foreign ministers of 28 EU states will meet on April 16 in Luxembourg to discuss the US-led strikes, according to Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders. "EU foreign ministers will have the opportunity to consult each other on this situation at a meeting of the Council to be held on Monday," Reynders said. He added that while he understood the justification behind the strikes, it was nonetheless "important to establish mechanisms to prevent this in the future and resume dialogue."

Defense alliance NATO to discuss offensive Syria strikes

NATO ambassadors will hold a meeting in Brussels on Saturday to discuss the latest developments in Syria, according to a statement released by NATO headquarters.

"I support the actions by the US, UK and France against the #Syrian regime's chemical weapons facilities and capabilities," NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg wrote on Twitter shortly after the strikes were launched. "#NATO considers the use of chemical weapons unacceptable. Those responsible must be held accountable."

May to 'update' Parliament on strikes it wasn't allowed to debate

British Prime Minister Theresa May will update Parliament on the strikes, Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson told BBC radio. The missile attack was not approved by lawmakers, with the prime minister claiming that there was "no alternative" to striking Syria and that the attack was "right and legal."

Collective Security Treaty Organization to convene emergency meeting

Russia convened on Saturday an emergency meeting of the permanent council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to discuss the situation in Syria, the CSTO press service said. The CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.

Cut and paste from another thread.

I had a couple of wechat video conversations with a mate in Damascus today. He has a factory local to me and has an apartment in the same block. He is in Damascus because of the Chinese go to home country to get visa policy.
What a joy to be invited by video to be part of a 'Fuck Trump' party .
A party, held by normal ppl, who are just happy to be alive after millions of dollars worth of missile strikes.

At Least 20 Dead After Israeli Warplanes Strike Iranian Military Base In Southern Syria: Reports

Update: as expected, it was indeed Israel:

  • FOUR ISRAELI AIRSTRIKES ON IRANIAN BASE IN ALEPPO #SYRIA - REPORTS: i24

According to unconfirmed reports from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, there have been a number of casualties following the strike. It remains unclear if those killed were Syrians or Iranians. If the latter, Iran may soon be in a state of war with Israel.

Maariv reports that at least 20 Iranian Officers were killed in Aleppo due to the airstrikes, but Hezbollah-tied al-Mayadeen denies reports of an Israeli strike in Jabal Azzan.

* * *

Trump's mission in Syria may be "accomplished", but Israel's is just getting be getting started (as we speculated).

According to a reports by SkyNews Arabia and Al Arabiya, a huge explosion was heard at the Iranian base Jabal Azzan located in Syria's Aleppo after it was struck by "unidentified warplanes."

Twitter Ads info and privacy

The alleged Iranian airbase was first disclosed in late February, when Fox News published images showing a military base northeast of Syria's capital. According to the report, Iran's Al Quds force is operating the post.

While it is too early to determine who launched the attack, since none of the western forces have claimed responsibility, the most likely party is Israel which as a reminder, was also the first to strike Syria last Monday, almost a week before the US-coalition forces also unloaded on Syria.

Developing.

The conspiracy nut here

Assad has a British education and has almost reclaimed the entire country and would not risk the gains by using chemical weapons for 40 people. Iraq used and killed 200,000 Kurds in one day, chemical weapons are for a high body count because so much could go wrong, wind, temperature, handling, etc.

The British probably arranged this "frame up" for the poisoning right under their nose twice in Britain as a payback to embarrass Russia. There is not much else a little island like Britain can do to Putin without some other governments support.

Trump will not escalate this simply because he does not care but chemical weapons are a violation of international law and he will set an example to prevent others from using them just over the principle of looking tough instead of a fool like his predecessor.

The last chemical weapons use was answered with missiles and now we know Assad had nothing to do with that attack.

Its a shame that we have to be the world police man and support an ally because Russia hurt their feelings but this is the world we live in.

The pipeline from Saudi, jordon, syria, turkey, financed by dubai to supply energy resources to Europe that was proposed in 2001 will be built and if the west has to wipe out a few governments and dictators along the way, so be it. Russia does not want the pipeline competing with their sales of energy supplies to Europe. Always follow the money.

West-Gone-Mad :

Egg on May’s face

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-04-20/russia-exposes-british-lies-sk...

Moscow says it has proof that the agent used in the UK attack is a chemical weapon patented in the US. So was this a covert operation aimed at ratcheting up tensions between the West and Russia?

The sensational case of the poisoning of the ex-MI6 agent and former Russian military intelligence colonel Sergei Skripal on March 4 in Salisbury, in the UK, is becoming more and more curious. Under a blinding spotlight from Moscow, the British allegation regarding a Russian hand in the poisoning of Skripal is getting exposed. An engrossing plot in big-power politics is also unfolding. There is stuff here for a Le Carre novel.

Britain is studiously ignoring the Russian requests for samples of the chemical agent used in the Salisbury attack and for consular access to be granted to the former spy’s daughter Yulia. Meanwhile, Britain instead approached the OPCW to investigate.

The OPCW has now responded that it cannot identify the country of origin of the chemical agent used in the Salisbury attack.

There is egg on PM Theresa May’s face.

However, Russians managed to get their hands on the report prepared for the OPCW by its reputed laboratory in Spiez, the Swiss Center for Radiology and Bacteriological Analysis. According to the Swiss lab’s report, the chemical formula used in the Salisbury attack has been in service in the US, the UK and other NATO countries. Furthermore, neither the Soviet Union nor Russia “ever developed or stockpiled similar chemical weapons.”

That’s more egg on May’s face.

Now comes the bombshell. On April 18, Moscow disclosed that it has formally handed over to the OPCW proof to the effect that the Novichok agent purportedly used in the Salisbury attack actually happens to be patented as a chemical weapon in 2015 in the US and produced in that country. (By the way, unlike Russia, the US is yet to destroy its chemical weapon stockpiles, as required under the Chemical Weapons Convention of 1997.)

Now, not only the British government but Washington too has some explaining to do.

Was Skripal attack a covert op by the West?

Simply put, the Salisbury attack might even have been an Anglo-American joint covert operation undertaken with the ulterior motive to ratchet up tensions between the West and Russia. (The Washington Post reported on Monday that the former National Security Advisor HR McMaster might have hoodwinked President Donald Trump into approving the expulsion under the wrong notion that similar numbers of expulsions by European allies was in the pipeline. In the event though, the Europeans made only token expulsions.)

‘Even Cold War did not come to this’: Moscow slams US after Bolshoi ballet dancers denied entry

Washington is trying to “fence off” Americans from Russians with a “visa wall,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said regarding the visa denial of Russian Bolshoi Theater performers.

Moscow has slammed the US for “artificially” creating conditions to halt the issuance of visas. “Even during the Cold War it did not come to this,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday, adding that art has always served for easing tensions and “melting the ice of distrust.”

Now “influential forces” in the US, which are preoccupied with trying to pressure Russia, “do not stop at anything,” the foreign ministry said. “They are trying to fence off Americans from Russians with a visa wall, as we’ve said before, making trips of our citizens to the USA practically impossible,” according to the statement.

Olga Smirnova, a prima ballerina at Russia’s famous Bolshoi Theater, and another Bolshoi dancer, Jacopi Tissi, were due to perform at the Lincoln Center on Monday. However, the US Department of Immigration denied visas for both. “We are very disappointed with this decision which is the same type of visa we ask for and receive each time for our artistes,” event organizer Eve Hodgkinson said, as cited by AFP.

Linda K. Morse, chair of Youth America Grand Prix which is hosting the gala where the Russian ballet dancers were due to perform, told the New York Post-affiliated Page Six website that she can’t understand the motivation of the US authorities. “One interpretation is that it’s political. That’s my knee-jerk reaction, but I can’t figure out why — other than that they’re Russian. But it doesn’t make any sense,” she said.
