Q: What is the best cure for a hangover in China?

We went out last night for Christmas and I had a few too many.  My head and stomach are killing me and the thought of food makes me want to put a bullet in my head.  We've all been there.  What cures have you found to work for a hangover in China?

There is NO scientific cure for a hangover (or the common cold for that matter) only things that make you feel better or relieve the symptoms.
Drinking copious amounts of water while imbibing and taking an aspirin before going to sleep may alleviate the worst of a hangover.

Not consuming fake alcohol - basically, stick to bottled tsingtaos and the hangovers should never be too bad.

I'm all about staying hydrated.  If you ever bother to research how much of our organism is basically h2o you will see why I am a bit of a spaz about it. I read somewhere long ago that the depletion of the water content in a single cell is what leads to that particular cell's death, which is the root of all disease. may not be the whole story, but I do feel that they were on to something.

So, I consume liberal amounts of pure (presumably) water during my waking hours and on the rare occasion when I need a special tonic for hangover I imbibe generous quantaties of fruit juice, usually orange, and that wonderful time-proven elixir- black coffee.

*truth is my boozing it up days are far behind me.  still enjoy a pijou in the evening though

i have to do a lot of cycling recently, and i noticed that even a single beer makes me wake up later and feel significantly more tired and less healthy. and it's German beer not Chinese, but this doesn't matter.

this probably sounds lame and obvious, but it isn't said enough that alcohol is bad for you. i still value beer as a guarantee that when you get home on a hot day, your family will have drank everything but the cold beers.

Alcohol is a relaxant and will make the evening more enjoyable with friends, but you don't need more than 2 for the desired effect. switch to non-alcoholic drinks afterwards.

Definitely hair-of -the-dog.  I've been pretty average all day today and now, about 2/3 through my first long neck, I'm feeling strong and powerful.  This is definitive proof that if you fall off the horse your best bet is to just climb back on.

And I have.  Cracking number 2 now!  Woohoooo.....

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
