Q: What has happened to ECC?
the SPAMMERs seem to have taken over, so i am not surprised that this site has gone down the tubes.
Is there zero Administration?
Even the Articles on the home page are trite and hackneyed, similar to many such essays i read in China.
the jobs seem to be the same shady opportunities that have the same low salaries and don't even offer a visa.
15,000 a month for a 'Senior Consultant' role in a Finance company????
This used to be a vibrant site and it is sad in its passing.
and i hope all my friends here have gone on to better things.
If it weren't for the five people who check in regularly here, this site would stop getting it's advertising checks. So really they should be paying us.

Where can you see 'spammers'? ... for longer than the few hours? 
I check in way less than I used to and when I do there's usually nothing new or interesting happening so I just lose interest in it until I think to check in again. I assume it's the same with other users.
The good old days of interesting debates, interesting personalities and online fights are long gone. Well, nothing is forever I suppose....

Probably the only half decent post I ever did 
I will be packing up and leaving this summer, after teaching middle school to college, I just don't want my daughter exposed to excessive homework and a stressful childhood. I have regrets that once she gets to an American school, she will hear profanity, something she would not get exposed to here, but making her attend classes and homework like a sweatshop I think is the worse of two evils.

previously i have challenged ECC to respond to any issues that posters have, but surprise surprise, tumbleweeds are in evidence.
Any half-way decent website would communicate with posters, but could it be that Chinese people have very little insight into keeping people engaged.
To be honest, without a serious make-over this site is dead - but then it has been on life-support for the last couple of years.

Silly foreigner....successful business in China is different from foreign success. There is something strange about the whole situation here. I've never lnown a business to be driven to destroy a thriving concept. Ecc was at the top of it's platform till about 6 years ago then the steady down hill began. The user mod thing was a failure..infact the best mod was the first guy they had in 08 ..09 . I do think it could be saved however it would take someone with fair dinkum resolve tp do it

@stiggs They were concentrating on collecting resumes for awhile...maybe they sold the inventory and are working on rhe next cash cow. Like selling our details to some other organizations
Some of the reasons we don't hear from many of top users anymore could be that some of them are married but don't want their children in this education sytem so went back to their home country. Another reason could be they were denied the proper visa because they are over 60. Like there are not to many old people who want to work in Shaanxi. Or maybe they just found a better paying job and took advantage of their experience in China to get higher pay and better living conditions.

A lot of regulars have gone home and just moved on but for whatever reason this site doesn't attract new users. That's probably the main problem, if you have a website you gotta have the new users signing up. As Sorrel said above, ECC have never been receptive to advice or constructive, helpful criticism and that's never a good idea when you're trying to sell something.
I haven't googled China jobs / forums / advice etc for a long time now but I'm wondering if ECC would pop up on the first page if I did. I'm guessing not. That's not helpful.
I challenge whoever it is that is left in charge of the site to respond, or do you not have the English or the b***s for a direct answer.
Why has no-one done anything to revitilise this site over he years?
Why have sucessive Admins refuesed to engage with legitimate quesions the users have?
- is it that you are unable to due to lack of English ? (this would explain the proifieration of spammers)
- is it becuase you are avoiding what you perceive as 'confrontation' with foreigners and their direct questions (a common failing amongst Chinese)
- is it because you just don't care about this site at all?

i did receive answers to emails, but just the bland evasive answers that are standard, not to the specific questions or queries i posed.
In addition, after posting one email to ECC i was promptly SPAMMED by them.
these communications were not PM's but emails.

This is one of the most effective ways of forum moderation. We will verify the posts and ban the spammers quickly when we are alerted with the "Report Abuse" messages.

hope there was an increase in the population with my posts over the last couple of weeks
I do have a couple of sugestions that might help boost the Forums appeal .
firstly a registed user could submit photos of there own easily and after being scrutined by a moderator then cold be posted
also a pole with a fixed question could be put up from Ecc to gauge users response and help Ecc focus attenton for beniit.
both these fore mentioned features are on Face Book and should be cost effective to addopt.

Thank you for your suggestions. Sorry for the late reply.
Your suggestions are interesting but to have the features developed on this Answers might be difficult for people at eChinacities. Unlike the rest of eChinacities, the Answers was developed using a CMS called Drupal which most developers in China are unfamilar with. To add features you suggested would require the programmers at eChinacities to understand the Drupal and modify the Answers coding with PHP programming language. This is very hard part of our programmers. We will discuss this internally anyway.
