Suzhou?

Go ask.

Sorry for the silly answer. I am just answering to remove this from the list. Good luck with your pearls.

Generally the advise I got was to refrain from buying jade, pearls and expensive silk unless I can distinguish the quality.

The point mentioned was not the problem of getting fake product, but all these items have a lot of different qualities with totally different price (from several hundreds CNY to several tens thousand CNY).

All say that even Chinese who want to buy such product, if they go for good one, do two things:

1) Go to reputable shop only

2) Take with them somebody who has an idea what they are buying

I would then recommend the same in case you really want to buy these items.

Having then such a friend with you he/she will certainly know where to go ...

A:It happened to me, once ... in 2014 or 15 ...Plane from RP city (Tianjin) had more than 10h delay and I came to the HK's exit Luohu some 7 hours after the RP expiration day.In real, I came to the exit crossing on time or only an hour late, but Luohu is closed overnight (10pm - 6am), which I didn't know. There were two unexpected things happened at that exit: flight's delay with closed Luohu overnight on the topI had a decent and real excuse for the cops next morning, but still I was put in a side office for some 3h and then cops had a short lecture with '.. and make sure, it will never happened again! ..', and I was let go without anything on my record. At least, at the new Z visa application and following reentry to China nobody ever mentioned anything about the delayed exit. However, I had a bad, uneased feeling at the following Z visa application ...It is much, much wiser and safer to exit at least a day ahead of the RP expiration date. -- icnif77
