Q: Where can I listen to live music in Shanghai?

I'm dying for some live music; no more foreign pop music piped in through tiny speakers, please! What are the best places in Shanghai to go?

There are a ton of great live music venues in Shanghai, some old and established and some just opened. Yuyintang is the most famous one, but MAO Livehouse is gaining popularity quickly. There's also Zhijiang Dream Factory, Brown Sugar, House of Blues and Jazz , lOgO, Anar, Sound Blue, JZ Club, and Beedees to name a few. You could try a new one for every night of the week.

Try CJW at Xintiandi for great Jazz! Or there's an outlet on Sinan Lu too (off Huai Hai road) where guest jazz artists plays all week long!
