Q: Why kids are wearing trousers split / torn at the bottom?

Hiya,

It has been a week since i moved to Shanghai. Can someone explain the mystery of the torn /split trousers of the kids with no underwear? Apparently they are not wearing those because they are poor - their parents look wealthy. An idea pops in my head, but my brain cells denies it. Is it all about what i am guessing??

Yes, I can confirm your worst fears. It's so the kids can pee / poo freely.

I gotta say those pants do look comfortable though. I'm thinking about getting some myself to wear around home.

Chinese are cheaper than Jews, and diapers are an expensive waste of money, so is cleaning and paying a high water bill for cleaning cloth diapers.

If it's not necessary, don't buy it, copy software, copy books, run pipes along the wall, not in the wall, wash everything dishes and clothes always in cold water, leave the tap dripping every night to get more free water, etc. so many things, too much to write.

Ebenezer Scrooge is a saint and Jews are devote followers of Mother Teresa in comparison to China.

Because kids don't know how to take of their trousers properly and will poop on their pants. Don't you have any common sense? Why is there such a stupid question? What did you wear when you were a kid? Unbelievable. Must be a troll.

For allowing ease of pee and poo elimination from the corresponding orifices of the little pig men without need for taking off or changing said trousers

You must be well out into the suberbs of Shanghai to have seen that. The splits pants were all over GZ just a few years back but they are mostly gone now.

I think it was fear of skid marks on metro seats that put an end to them here.

The party promotes tradition, but it fears it at the same time. The Party wants traditional Chinese with Party charateristics.. Not traditional with face losing peasant characteristics.

Before I came to China I had no concept of peasants. Wow.

Split pants are a peasant thing. Being phased out in the cities it seems.

Whoa my comment got harmonized?

I just said that I wear split pants at home and I get deleted?

I see that my weird man-baby lifestyle choices aren't accepted here.

If it's a war between my making inappropriate comments and someone deleting them then game on.

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
