Q: Will more subways and buses really fix Beijing's traffic problem?
9 years 9 weeks ago in Transport & Travel - Beijing
Look at all the people in those busses and subways and think, "what would traffic be like if the busses & subways weren't there."
Short answer to your question: No. But it will help ease the commuter growth curve.
The answer is no
Moving ppl out of this city is the only soluation..this city is at the edge of a blast.
Government should develop more others cities (they are doing it but not successful), make ppl want to move to other cities..make other cities famous and good for foreigners or other other cities, small town ppl...This is the only soluation for Beijing traffic...otherwise no any smart guys can deal with it at all, without a support from central government...
Beijing traffic problem was casued by some history policy problems, so got a long way to finally get it to normal...
No, it won't....for the good reason that Chinese living standard and salary are increasing year-to-year....and do Chinese often do when the money increases : buy an apartment and then buy a car...
Try to think in Europe....how many years has passed since finally in Europe you realize the effects of pollution. In China, they have just started to sell cars, you need another 20-30 years for them to realize the pollution problems going with cars.
As for metros or buses, you need to have special lines for buses and that bus drivers stick to that line, which won't be the case. Metros cannot be extended forever...More metros also means that more people can come from the outer suburbs to the inner suburbs to work, which means more and more people, but not necessarily less cars.
Yes, because carpooling always helps out the environment and can make the traffic less crowded. You take 10 people give them 1 car each or you can take a bus and put 10 people in that one bus you will eliminate a lot of space and protect the environment. Also making more subways for people to travel on can be a good idea too. They've already built many new subways in new places so they are making progress.
