Q: Which city has the worst drivers?

I've re-named Wenzhou to Haozhou... as in "tuhao-zhou' given the absolutely abysmal, atrocious, and incredibly selfish driving I've seen there. The typical "I'm going to block the way for everyone around me because... well.. because it's me!"

Iv'e been to a number of cities (granted mostly T1& T2...) but it's even worse than in Bumfuck Jiangxi province. Where there's the mentality of "If I kill you while you're on the pedestrian crossing, it's still your fault because I was blaring my horn at you 100 meters away - speed limits are ... what??"

But Wenzhou was even worse than that (but in a different way... probably cos there were less big trucks where I was). Indicators are for... wasting the car's electricity - so don't use them!

How long have you been in China? 2 weeks?

Do you have a car?

I find it amusing that people come to China and years later are still complaining about the driving and parking.

jetfire9000:

Do you have a car? if you did, you'd find pretty good reason to complain. Whether you take it out everyday or park it for a few, it wont be looking new for very long unless you take it to a service shop every five months and get all the scratches and nicks covered up.  People seriously cant drive here.  They cant judge how big spaces are and try to squeeze by.  Or they cant come to a stop in time.  Or they try squeezing in your lane during bumper to bumper traffic.  The real mystical thing is that even id you park it for a day or two you will always find a new mark on your car. Probably from people on scooters or someone dragging a garbage can.  All of this and i didnt mention the amount of stress that comes with nearly running people over who dart out in the streets at the last minute.

Jet, you missed the bit about ignoring traffic signs and lights and other things, turning into oncoming traffic and expecting it to give way to you (constantly!), the ebike riders who think they're immortal...

Most locals don't understand, appreciate or whatever the concept of 'safe braking distance'. (or 'lanes'... squeezing 5 lanes out of the 3 allocated.)

Yep, totally missed some of the most ridiculous and frustrating stuff on the roads here.  Pretty much because I take it for granted now.  And that doesn't mean that it is any less frustrating.  This OP should try learning a bit of Chinese and listening to the profanities the cabbies drop in those types of situations.

mostly they are drunk drivers, ignoring the other's safety, their license should be banned forever.

Shining_brow:

In Wenzhou, possibly! It wouldn't surprise me!

However, no - the problem with drivers in China is that they are allowed to drive! The 'test' is BS... you go around and around for a while, hand some money over to the tester, and bingo - you have a license!

99.99% of 'licensed' drivers in China would never be able to pass the test overseas! (and, that includes the driving instructors)

In Zhuhai, if you drive from the center to the sticks you can actually km after km see more and more insanity on the roads.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
