Re: Fight club - your brawl stories with Chinese
Okay, here is a story about one of the most brutal fights I have been in during my stay in China.
But, before I start my tale, I would like to say that normally, I really do try to stay open minded, level headed and calm about things. But, just like anyone, if I am caught at a bad moment then I may not respond kindly.
In any case, this day was a banner BCD (Bad China Day) and it seemed that every Chinese citizen got a memo that it was "Make XpatJohn's Life Hell Day". Even my loving Chinese wife got the memo that day. I didn't stand a chance.
In an effort to calm down, I went on a walk through my closed neighborhood with my wife. Normally the trees, streams and playing children have a way of relaxing me. But today all it did was remind me how far from normal my life is and the fact that I missed what once was.
As I am walking down the road, from out of nowhere, a Chinese guy walks up and kicks me! Then he stands there with his arms crossed and chin stuck out as if to say, "Yeah, I kicked you. What are you going to do about it?" Come to think of it, he may have actually said those words in Chinese, but I was too busy seeing red to care.
My wife immediately started pulling on my arm because she knew I was about a half second from jumping this guy. She kept saying, "ignore him. ignore him." And for her sake, I did try to do just that. I really did.
I turned and went to walk the other way and the moment my back was to him, he threw a ball at the back of my head. That was it. It was on.
Over the next, what seemed like hours, but was probably less than 2 minutes, we went at it. I am not a trained fighter, and thankfully, neither was he. There was lots of kicking and biting, wild arm flailing mixed in with screams and scratching.
Amazingly, I managed to finally get the upper hand and I left him in a crying heap on the ground. As a token of my hard earned victory, I claimed the ball that he had thrown at my head as a trophy.
Having finally found a physical release for all of my pent up anger, I have to say, I felt great. I was bleeding and bruised and limping, but I felt better than I had in months.
However, my wife was very pissed off and told me that she was ashamed of me for getting into a fight with the guy. And she told me that if I had any honor or self respect, I would give the three year old back his ball.

The only times I had any encounters with any problems was when I was at the first subway stop and everybody is fighting to get a seat. It's like we were playing musical chairs!
Had an argument or dispute with an employee at one of the fast food restaurants. She told me I didn't pay and insisted that I pay her extra or else I wouldn't get my food. She brought out her manager and I just waited until they brought me my food. I guess I was right and she was wrong otherwise they never wouldn't have given me the food. Bad enough being accused of not paying for the food, but then having the manager staring at me while I was eating!! No fights happened, but I wasn't leaving that place with an empty stomach!

Nothing interesting. I used to work nights (back in 2009/2010) in a kind of rough neighbourhood in a rough city Sometimes, on my way home sometimes really really really really drunk guys would try to start something, but I was always completely sober and most of them couldn't stand up straight. A gentle breeze would have kicked their ass.

I once had a toe hold on a guy pinched another guys nipple and stepped on another guy's foot at the same time.
Recently I was playing a game and I actually had like 30 + wins on these guys. We were going back and forth for awhile but to no avail on their behalf they always came up short! USA USA USA!!!
I fight with Chinese when I take the subway! We like to play musical chairs. I've lost sometimes yes, but I have a winning record. I would say out of 100 times I'm 100/100. That's only the first line it's easy to get the seat. Actually let me correct that number I get a seat when I want it so yeah it remains the same 100/100.
I had a thumb fight believe it or not that's one of my weaknesses when it comes to fighting I lose almost everytime. But don't challenge me to a duel of arm wrestling because I almost broke a guys arm in half. LOL!
