Look, I don't mind our president offering an apology to a foriegn head of state when we do something stupid, that is ok. But in this scenerio I don't think I would be falling on my sword so quickly considering Afghan soilders responded by killing a couple of Americans.
Have the Afghans apologized to us for their blatent overreaction?
We shouldn't be over burning Korans and provoking people but killing is WAY worse than burning a book. I think these guys owe us an apology as well. When we apologize for burning the koran and don't request any apologies or condemnations in return it looks like we condone the response and take responsiblity for it.

You may choose to call it 'just a book', but to Muslims, it is a HOLY OBJECT, it is SACRED!
Can you name me one other time in human history when destroying someone's holy and sacred religious icons has NOT resulted in some form of violence??? And, given that it is a PART of their religion (taking revenge for such impiety), what the hell would you expect??? (add to that what the US did to their country recently!)

I firmly believe it's not the majority of the people who have the hate... it's the people who want the power and control. So, they whip up a frenzy about anything they can, start blaming other people for stuff, and then they can have at 'em. The majority of the people really just want to get on with their lives and not worry about too much crap. When politics starts to be infiltrated by people who would prefer to not be there, it'll be a much better world. Bring back the (ancient) Greek version of democracy - random lots for all people to enter government, similar to a jury system.
