Hi everybody!
A few months ago I started a relationship with a very nice Chinese girl. We seem to be getting along great and I like her very much. She's intelligent, has a great sence of humor and is very beautiful! Her birthday is coming up soon so I wanted to buy her a nice present, but then I thought to myself that maybe there are some cultural differences that I should keep in mind when choosing a present for her. Maybe something that I would consider normal to buy a girlfriend back home, would be considered weird or even insulting in China?
So I'm not really asking for advice on what to give her, but I wanted to ask you guys if there is anything that a Western guy like me should be bear in mind when looking for a birthday presents for his girlfriend?

I know that one of the traditional things you should not give as a gift is a clock or a watch. The traditional belief is that a time piece is a reminder of how long someone has left to live.
I am not sure about other items, but that one I know for sure.

to tell you the truth you may be better off posting this in Answers but I can understand your reluctance
keep away from green hats for one thing
but as for that you must know her likes and dislikes by now so just do what your hart tells you to do.
