Ok, so I going back to China soon, to finish off my undergrad. Conversationally my Chinese is good however when it comes to stuff like dating I'm not great. so here the breakdown. I've hung out of girls, dated etc when I was in China a few months ago. However there's one girl who I've never lost contact with so yeah I like her a bit. I've lost Chinese female friends in the past for not returning their feelings when they say they had feelings but I did not want to be mean since I was going home. Now this girl who I like said something to me, it was 好感hao3 gan3. her friends have said a whole bunch of other stuff too. these weird phrases that aren't 喜欢 or 爱. whenever I ask her what hao gan means I get all types of answers. and her friends won't say either. so anyone know the difference between those three words 好感,喜欢,爱? also I can tell she has feelings of course, but her friends telling me she. she has a lotttt of guys who fancy her....

Hmmm, sounds like she is perhaps casually interested in you but doesn't necessarily have a full-blown crush on you. 喜欢 is a much stronger word that 好感。if her friends said 她喜欢你 then that would imply that she really likes you and is most probably interested in a relationship. However, to say she has 好感 towards you, in my opinion, just means that she thinks you're a nice guy. I wouldn't get your hopes up.
My translator says 'hao gan' means 'good or favourable impression"... which doesn't really sound like it means what you want it to mean, sorry! :(

You can't just translate a phrase without considering the situation.
好感 means she has feeling on that guy. Like she's a bit of into you but not that much.
好感 is a phrase can also used between any people. Like I have 好感(good impression) on the girl because she seem polite.
好感:1. Have feeling towards to sb
2. Have a good impression on sb
told her I found out what it means and to my surprise she wants to "date" so she can see if she wants a relationship. thanks for answers.

Congrats!! Perhaps she was just being coy? (or, her 'friends' were trying to 'protect' her!)
好感 means she has feeling on you
喜欢 means like
爱 means deeply like ,means love
There's my advice. Don't date a girl who are in capable of speaking English well. You need someone who is capable of having real conversation with you to run into a relationship.
Besides, 好感 means she has a good feeling towards to you, quite similar to 喜欢(like). But it doesn't mean she'll choose you.
And why there are a bunch of her friends involving into it? Weird.
Pretended that you wanna learn chinese but wanting me to give you free relationship consulting.
