Q: 1000 RMB for a pair of jeans?

Made a hole in a my only pair of jeans. Anyone have a recommendation for good stores to buy new pairs in Beijing?

I heard someone say it cost 1000 yuan to get a good pair here. I really hope that's not the case.

Cheap ones fall apart fast. Maybe you can serial-buy cheap jeans until you go home and can buy good jeans at reasonable prices. You can buy cheap - less than 100RMB.

Sorry, might be best to wait until you get home.

bought a fake one for 110 kuai around a year ago... still fine and not broken.

but if u want a good brand and invoice, better prepare to pay even more than in europe or america. eventhough its most likely made in china...

Real Levi's cost a pretty penny in Asia.  but they are worth it,,,   and actually the 'per use' cost is very reasonable as they will last for years and even get better looking as time goes by!

Just be careful, it takes most people some time being here before they figure out how to tell Real from Shanzhai....

Or you could buy a pair when you return home for the summer.

del: i don't know much about shopping in beijing but find out where college students shop, avoid the big shopping malls.

listen people whenever you go to a new city, explore it thoroughly . Take buses from your home and just go out and get lost. sadly in many cases this is the best way to find things.  the first 3 months in a new city explore it window shop to death. stop only going to safe areas, relying on taxis or just going to the major malls.

i'm not knocking you i'm just giving out advice what has worked for me.

If you're in Beijing, do NOT go to yashow (expensive and very low quality - and unlike before, now they won't admit they're selling fake crap, so barely want to bargain), and do not go to the Village's shops, because they're so damn expensive for pretty much the same thing.

Try the Zoo market, they still have a bit of heart there. And nice jeans that'll last for about a hundred or two.

I think 1000 is too much, for that much I'd want at least two pairs of jeans and the girls wearing them.

1000 rmb is kinda steep... But I'm guessing it's for a pair of Levi's, Miss Sixty or some other brand.

If you can afford jeans in the price range of 200-400, you can try C&A and H&M.

If you can afford something more than that, I think 400-600 or so, you can try Mango.

But, if you ask around (or baidu around), you can find some clothing markets where you can go to. The quality might be so-so, but they're not as expensive as in the malls.

I have bought two pairs of jeans in China.  One at WalMart (85 Rmb) and one at another small store (125 Rmb).  Both places had them on sale, according to them, 36 by 30 is an odd size in China, and must deeply discount them to sell.  I also bought at the samall store a pair of dress troussers, those were 700 Rmb originally, discounted to 70 Rmb.

I do not dress fancy, no need to.  Just keep an eye out for bargains.

Pff..Only, H&M, C&A is friendly pocket brand in Europe. But here I find them

 rather expensive.

Good jeans, buy them in from shopping mall but during sale, then they're not overpriced.
