Q: 20th March was International Happiness Day....

I didn't know that. So, how happy are we considering the current state of affairs the world is in now? I suppose we are happy with certain things in our lives and not so in others. I'm happy to be able to travel and see the world, thankful that I'm born average and not in want. They say that the best things in life are free but is that true in today's world? What are the things that make you happy? In China or back home?

I'm happy every day!  'I like to live!', and I always feel (a bit) awkward, when they make me celebrate my BD.

I'm thinking, am closer to the grave, every time they remind me 'its your BD'

Then celebrate your BCD if that makes you less awkward.

My 'BCFM' (few months) is: 'my School cannot post my salary to CMB account, because Fukang (city of some 5 000 residents, no Supermarket) doesn't have CMB branch'.

First CMB branch is some 20km away! Yesterday, I told them I won't extend our Contract in the end of April, and I'll look for another School (if they'll bother me with that nonsense).

School confirmed last November, they want to extend our Contract in April 2014.

Now, what does it matter in which Bank in China, I want to receive my pay? Does accountant need take a bus ride with plastic money bag to 40km away Urumqi, and deposit my salary there? Beyond 'ben'!

A long trekk, days in the wilderness, without obvious traces of human meddling. A swim in the sea. Making love. Programming something and seeing it working. An hour or two playing minecraft. A good book, a good wine, a beer and a good talk.

Ahhhh....typically French....the better things in life..you may get some of these in Thailand. I haven't seen any in China. Any good spot is swamped with humanity here.

Vietnam was fitting the bill. Sadly, the job market wasn't. Same thing in China, there are spots for this (Southern tip of Yunnan for instance), but in those places, my only job option is marrying a local and opening a guesthouse ^^

Clean air, not having to filter then boil water if i want to drink it, camping where there Are no signs of people

louischuahm:

Sad to say you won't get any of those, too much pollution, water quality is suspect  and open space, well maybe if you go to Inner Mongolia, tons of it there.

Its also the day that hate-mongerer Fred Phelps (Westboro Baptist "church") died. A good day indeed!

A: Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever
A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
