Q: The 4 essentials of life: Coffee, Menthol Cigs, CHOCOLATE & Ice Cream?

I'm headed to Chengdu next August. I NEED to know if I will be able to get these things. And how much of my budget I should expect to pay for them. Please and thank you. Smile

Chengdu has this great store called Sabrina's Country Store. It's all imported food. You can get good coffee, chocolate, and they even have Ben and Jerry's. But you'll pay a lot for it. Starbucks is all over Chengdu (about the same price as in the States), too. If you just want ice cream once in a while, go to Peter's Tex Mex or another Western restaurant. They have shakes and sundaes. In most convenience stores they sell Dove chocolate and Snickers.

Thank you! I've read Pete's has western style ice cream... I wonder if I could request my apartment be right abovethe restaurant hahaha! Thanks for the info on Sabrina's.

getting these things on the website is the smartest choice. everything is cheaper than in the supermarkets. there are many cyber shopping sites, like Taobao, Yihaodian, ect. but you need to pay online by using e-banking.

A:I'll give my two cents on the age part. It's not as easy but can definitely be done. I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
