It can change based on in which community you live.

Rates for living units in commercial buildings (ie. shops on ground floor and living/office units on higher floors is one type of it) is higher than residential buildings. Don't know what's your case...

I've never lived LT in Shenzhen, but ... this is what I found on search:

https://www.expatistan.com/cost-of-living/shenzhen

Housing:

Utilities 1 month (heating, electricity, gas ...) for 2 people in 85m2 flat560元

https://www.quora.com/In-Shenzhen-China-how-are-residential-water-bills-...

Now, the utilities bill are separated into three different bills. One is water bill along with management fees and some sundries (including, waste water treatment, solid waste management, etc).

The electricity bill comes in every two months. However, if you can read some Chinese, you might be able to ask the landlord to provide your with an online account with the Electricity Supply Bureau to check how much you are supposed to pay. There are two ways to know the amount. First, the landlord chooses to text you a message informing the amount (such landlord is usually not that busy); some landlord with big business usually tells you to check  your mail box to find out the amount on the bill.

For the gas bill, I usually miss it. Don't know. Sometimes electricity bill as well. Guess some landlords of my age are very eco-friendly. So they use electronic notification system to know the amount. I am left no choice but to wait for the landlord's notification regarding the amount. Of course the landlord will screenshot the amount on the text message sent by the gas company.

I hope, that helps!

I found that every community I lived in was different as far as utilities went. I always put it down to the community itself - the way it was managed, maybe the deal they had with providers, maybe the community adding their own 'tax' to every bill.

Unless you are paying the bill directly to the utility provider then you are also paying the landlord's bill too. It's how sh1t works here.

In my case, i have an electricity card which can be re-charged in the local shops every few months, or whenever you need it. Water, i paid a year ago and the community havent sent any more bills, waiting for that one, but i dont expect it will be more than a few hundred yuan. Gas, it's a total mystery to me. I paid the landlord about 1200rmb up front for amenities already paid into the apartment before i moved  (reciepts provided, all good, nice chap, the landlord) but the gas just never runs out. Any time there IS something to pay, someone sticks a bif of paper on the door and i just go to the community office and part with some hard earned cash Smile

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
