Q: Is Adele overrated?
I was checking a website, and i noticed some people think she is overrated !
My Chinese friends agree with me that she has a talent!
They also think she is quite popular in China, i think her new song "Hello" is amazing!
what do you think?! Is Adele overrated?

Newbies should learn how to ask Q, which isn't related to China, and make it related to as 'Will Adele's new album be successful in China or is she overrated?'

On Phil's Paris thread, there were no Chinese among the victims, but he wrote they were, and made thread related to China. Ming bai?
In my early days at eChina, I picked 'A-of-the-D' with Q: 'How to suggest A-of-the-D?', and then c&p my fav Sino's answer.
'A-of-the-D' is exclusively admin's choice. 'Not in my house....'

She's derivative. All those songs have already been written, sung and recorded. She might seem cool if you've never listened to any soul music. This question also has nothing to do with China.

That puts her in the same league as other Grammy winners such as Milli Vanilli, Micheal Bolton, Celine Dion, The Baha Men, Nelly and Britney Spears - who are all seriously good musical artists.
I don't think you know what soul music is. You have the musical tastes and knowledge of a 13 year old girl. No offence - just calling it how I see it.
Agree with Mr nzteacher....except those songs that have already been written, sung and recorded were shite to begin with.
At best she is contrived sugar for emotionally confused teenage girls.
O.K., I'll be the one to say it, her music is crap and she isn't very nice to look at unless you are into farm animals (Cub I'm looking at you) or in Greenpeace.
Sadly most Chinese people enjoy listening to the most bland and uninspired of the non-Asian music around - probably because it is 'approved' as 'harmonious' and unchallenging. Biber, Adele and their ilk are such.
Thankfully i have met a few Chinese who break the mold and experiment with listening to and enjoying more individual styles of music.
Got to agree, this post has nothing to do with China.
chinese are basically trying to vet out all "political" speech from Western culture...Especially that which would criticize chinese political influence...It is very much teh same way that ISIS manipulates social media... But in china, they do this by using their collectivism...Select the artists who demonstrate no "human rights" sentiments...Give them access to chinese markets... chinese have no other choices...The bland non-political artists become more influential on a global scale.."Human right" artists are marginalized.
Adele is the result of the brits f"kin' with the Springtseen camp..and screwing it up royally...Adele is springsteen's mom's name...the brits pander.
Singers are recognized due to their singing talent aka voice... when it comes to adele she has an amazing voice..
Set fire to the rain,r rolling in the deep, someone like you & hello are all great songs, although this last one (HELLO) its becoming really annoying. Facebook, you tube etc.. all are trying to sing it and i dunno why. wherever i go they are playing it.....

FTR, I've never heard an Adele song... and have no intention of doing so!
