Q: Admin Note: An apology to all of our Answers platform users

Dear all, I hereby issue an apology to all of our Answers platform users. Some of you may have had issues accessing the platform yesterday. This was due technical problems with our server operators, causing the "Answers" section of our website to be inaccessible for half a day. Unfortunately, the situation with the server holders has developed further, causing us to lose "Answers" data for the last 28 days. This means all questions, answers, points and private messages which were asked , posted and gained in the lat 28 days have been irreversibly eliminated from our database. I would like to apologize in the name of eChinacities and our entire team for the inconvenience. If you have any comments or questions , please contact me via an Answers private message. Kind regards,Admin

Thanks admin. There has been a few threads and questions with no answer boxes too. Is this another glitch or some setting admin is doing by mistake. Sort of like youtube vids with comments disabled.

Blondie_:

i think Admin should be apologizing for 'certain posters' who single-handedly trashed this site with their verbal diarrhea and self-absorbtion.

seems like posting a PM breaches site guidelines, and warrants a ban, unless you are an 'employee' of the site

Anytime the answer section goes down for a time I wonder if maybe 'the man' has put his harmonious foot down and it's bye bye to a website I like.

Not this time though luckily..

Yeah I've always assumed there's some level of monitoring. Not just in relation to this site but all online activity, phone calls and messages, wechat, maybe who goes to your apartment regularly...

Surveillance equipment test was in Guizhou ...   .. during my tenure there.

10-15 years ago Chinese didn't implement such surveillance, but UK, USA, EU &Jaffa-land all had that working already.

Do you remember 'Up-yours' and released files ....?

Icinif: You're full of shit the US doesn't have widespread video surveillance and definitely didn't have much of anything 10-15 years ago. I remember advocating for it in high crime areas and the liberals who lived in gated communities shot it down because they didn't want to be caught on video buying coke in the hood.

I was talking out of my head about year 2003 to 2008, buTT ... Jaffa-land had such surveillance system operating around year 2000 to 2005. Their system isn't on public view. It's used as military installations around the civilian area. You can see the same system as on BBC link in Jaffa-land at flick 'Gatekeepers 2012'.

That same (hush-hush) applied in other western states and especially in USA, so it's difficult to pin-point exactly 'when such systems were operational'.

Apple store opened in 2004 on Regent Street in London with big webcam on the entrance. You could see the similar, round 360* cameras elsewhere in London city before that.

There were the same webcams in NY, Boston, SF, Miami around year 2002-2003.

Another fact is Chicoms don't invent much-o. They improve and remodel existing tech.

Quick DD on 'when surveillance cameras in western cities':

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_surveillance

Article describes mass surveillance in separate states' with E. Krout in year 1989, W. Krout in 2002, 'Carnivore' & 'ECHELLON' surv. systems were in operation in USA shortly after 9/11/2001 attack ... , so I wasn't too much off with '10-15 years before ...'.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
