Q: All these cases of spying but we continue to give out resident visas and citizenship to Chinese ?

We give/ sell visas and then they spy and we give out more visas and give them free access to sensitive materials. WTF America!

Ummm... so what are the actual percentages we're talking about here? I mean, the percentage of spies/espionage cases, compared to the number of residents visas and citizenships?

The problem is we don't know, counter espionage is awful in America. People have free range.

Spying was/is always active thing between the countries.

I can't read Chinese press, but I could read 'news' from West (USA) how Chinese are pilfering US state secrets and what not.

Then, 'Up-yours' landed in HK in 2013 ....

WTF America? Combine NSA surveillance and all manure, which happened in and out of USA in last 25y, and spooks didn't have a slight clue about it.....

Just say WTF, and leave America out of it .....get some precious metals and stay in China, IMO.

We did one better ....you are going to love this
The Australian government leased the Port of Darwin to a Chinese company that has very strong public ties to the Chinese Government .
this port not only looks after Australian Navy but is use extensively by the USA to resupply the large marine contingent.
