Q: Is allergy a problem in China?
If yes, can you answer some of the below questions:
1) do you know which type (plants, dust, animal or?) are causing the problems
2) how is allergy treated today
3) approximate cost for one treatment
4) how many suffer from allergy
5) other relevant info

It was caused by a sponge-cake, or possibly the cream inside it.
2) how is allergy treated today
Like any other ailment from a burst kidney to a sprained ankle, I was put on a saline drip.
3) approximate cost for one treatment
Can't remember but it didn't break the bank.
4) how many suffer from allergy
Not aware of others with a spong-cake allergy but if you hear of any, please pass on my details, maybe we could form a group so as to comfort one another in our shared suffering.

I also have a pollen allergy, as well as a powerful aversion to the music of West Life, The Backstreet Boys and S Club 7.

Yes, it is certain kind of chinese fish. It was specifically diagnosed by allergen test by specialist.
2) how is allergy treated today
Avoid eating ANY kind of fish in China and seafood.
3) approximate cost for one treatment
Don't remember but perhaps around 800-1000 RMB total in 3 visits to doctor & tests.
4) how many suffer from allergy
I don't know.

I already went back to my country for bout a year and ate all kind of fish & seafood. Started little by little of course and now can eat a huge fish alone. I arrived China last month and haven't touched any seafood but now it seems to see pork in a restaurant is the one that gave me those annoying rashes.
I aware many food in China is polluted or contaminated in some way but I never thought it was that complicated. It worths to mention I've lived in China almost 7 years and it was in the 6th when I got this stuff.
I usually don't get colds at home. In China I thought I was just getting cold after cold and my nose was constantly running. I don't think I had a cold, I think it's the air pollution. I went home and haven't had a runny nose since.
I agree with Ted and I too have the exact same symptoms. when I go back to Canada...all gone.
I have grass allergy. Back home it will hit me at a specific time of year. There are many different types of grass, here I can roll around on the grass year round, and the only thing that will bring tears is all the human feces on the grass.
I do however have a general tendency to having a slight sniffle. Year round, except for the hottest period where I am behind closed windows with the AC on.
North China my nose and eyes are terrible. South China, perfect by 90%, by 11:am my nose is perfect.
depending on the amount of pollution, my eyes burn every evening 
- i have a few remedies to help, but nothing to prevent.
I am starting to think I am allergic to China. Yesterday was my 5th hospital visit and the most serious so far.
Not sure what it is but certainly living in a place where the oil refinery is possibly does not help.
I return to Australia in Feb and i will be interested to see how my health changes if at all. That will help me decide whether I return here or not.
