Q: Alternatives to western nappies?

Not for my own personal use of course, I grew out of nappies years ago and now only ever need them during thunderstorms, and then only when it's nap-time, but I have a one year old son and the weather's beginning to get too hot for his usual Pampers. The wife has him in this kind of thin cloth that is worn like a sumo-wrestlers jockstrap. Aside from that the only alternative i'm aware of is one of those pairs of trousers with the arse cut out, and i'm not having him in one of those on my watch. I've already agreed on the skull-cap haircut I see on so many kids here, though with all his moving and screaming he's come out looking more like a convicted criminal from Les Miserables. But I draw the line at allowing him out in the park with his bol***s hanging out. So what alternatives are there left for the poor wee tike? Are there any special nappies that are actual, real nappies, that i'm not aware of? None of these choices seem anything better than awful. Cheers.

Just sit over a trash can while someone,  usually female whistles......

mArtiAn:

Yeh, my mother-in-law does that whistling thing. Fifteen minutes she's at it, like one of the seven dwarfs, then BAM, he takes a whizz and she smiles, "I told you it works."

I've proven that you can get the same result singing 'Rainy Night in Georgia'.

Scandinavian:

You should read up on the whistling vs. the Western potty training to see what kind of child you want. Tell mother in law to treat your baby as a human.

I am nearly 45 years old. No kids (that they have ever been able to prove) so far. So, child rearing is a vicarious experience for me....
