Any other Americans know what American Tax ID means? BOC is refusing to let me open an account without one.
I'm actually surprised you needed that. All I needed last time I opened a bank acct was my passport number.

As China demanded US repatriate/report all wealthy Chinese, who invested in US, US probably asked the same for US workers in China. I read yesterday, that US teachers working abroad might be exempt for tax, but tax return must be filled correctly.

America must have signed som esort of double tax agreement with China to enforce US tax rules....while helping China catch some more escaped tigers.....
