Q: Americans: Do you have family in China, and are you stuck because of no income/no cosigner?

I'm wondering how many of you expats are in this situation. You want to leave China, but you can't because you have family and you can't bring them home to America due to lack of a co-signer and/or income, so you're stuck in China. Have you given up on looking for a way out, or are you still trying to find work daily?

Got the money and a Co-signer if needed.

I'll be blunt and simple, now I'm not a banking expert so I'll say this:

I'm waiting for China to begin to fall, meaning China economical global crisis. I'll start to watch it and if I think it's time, then we'll leave "hopefully" together.

Side note: I was more shocked last week, my U.S friend NEVER paid taxes or filed taxes with the IRS after being in China for 13 years used his mom to cosign and his Chinese wife got the K1 Visa, I thought you had to prove tax filing before getting your wife a visa, but i was there, having dinner saying goodbye and she had the visa.

if you dont meet the tax requirements, you can have a 'co-sponsor'

Thats amazing. So the cosigner (his U.S mom) can use their taxes to cover the U.S spouses a**. wow.

Good. I'm glad you have a way out.

My dad co-signed for me since I didn't have the necessary funds at the time. I have a pretty good job now, so I'm on the prowl for people who may need help later on down the road. Pay it forward, I guess.

So is it true Hulk, if you have a late filing tax record we can use our cosigning parents taxe records instead of ours?

Yes.

I hadn't filed taxes in like 8 years. I had the income, but not the tax records. (long story)

And I was in college at the time, so I didn't work at all. I went around the world having fun.

Thank God, I missed two years that I'm trying to get filed now with a CPA. I'll just get my family to cosign, sounds a lot easier according to a lot of people.  I envy you, I got married at 25, now 34 years old. I should have travel around the world too, now its a "once a year travel gig."

Got married at 28 here.

But yeah, just have your family co-sign, and do NOT do the K1 visa. That takes too long. Do the CR-1 visa, which can be filed almost entirely online. You still have to present the initial documents in person, and you have to attend the interview.

Oh yeah, if you have 5 times the income in your bank account, you won't need a co-signer.  This is over 90k USD for 2 people.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
