Q: And another thing...did you know that Australian radio has been blocked in China for 2 weeks now?

I've been listening to the radio via my computer for the last 4 years, no problem.  Actually, some problems, but mainly it worked.

But not for the last two weeks.  It's blocked every day now.

Why is this so?  Anybody else experiencing this grief?

Remember the Great Firewall works in a way that has been increasingly complexified for a number of reasons.

Your radio might have been blocked not because it was targeted specifically, but because it was part of a bulk list. Or because it was using an ISP China didn't like anymore. Or it hasn't been blocked at all, but the roaming/your broadband allowance has been made so shitty it's just impractical.

They don't just block sites anymore, too much press. They make them slow and impractical until people stop using them. If people ask, they just say the Foreigner Internet is too slow, or that Foreign optic cables don't understand the 5000 years of Chinese network infrastructure history.

Which station?

I stream JJJ ok, although it cuts out every 5-7minutes most of the time.

royceH:

I go abc,net.au/radio..then; online..then; choose which local station I prefer, more often than not that's Perth because the time zone is the same as here in China...although that's a laugh for me as I live in Xinjuang...

Ah, found your problem!

You put a , instead of a . !! :p

Have you tried http://www.abc.net.au/radio/listen-online/#help?

And some of the options further down the page? AAC, Shoutcast, etc?
