Q: another visa question

Right now I have a one year, multiple entry visa with a 60 day stay. What happens when that visa expires? Can I apply for another one at the loval PSB office, or they just renew it? I asked our local Consulate and either cannot get a straight answer or they give me different answers each time.
Also, can I apply for a longer stay visa [perhaps 6 months or longer] after marriage to a Chinese citizen and can I apply for that visa in China, or, do I have to come back to USA and apply?

(i believe they only allow 2 inside) When i got my last 1 year visa, i needed a medical report but was told in future i wont need it again. What kind of visa did you get now??

If you have a labor contract, you should be able to get the temporary residence permit. My visas are always for one year... can travel abroad as many times as i want...

if you plan to stay for a long period, check your home country´s Chinese embassy website.
Usually they provide useful information about it, and you´ll be able to choose the right one for you.

If you have a one-year sixty-day stay visa, then that tells me that you are either on an "L" visa of some kind or an "F" visa of some kind.

If you become married to a Chinese visa, your first spousal visa will be increments of six-months and upon renewal, of one year.

Finally, if you are on a one-year "L" visa, you may find it necessary to make a Hong Kong or Macau trip. Even if the PSB somehow, somehow extends your "L" visa, it mostly likely will be for one month and you will need to show financial support, etc., etc.

Since your visa is multientry and 60 days stay, I will assume you are on an "L" tourist visa most probably.

When your visa expires, and depending if you are already married or not, and also if you are in China or not, you have a few options to choose from.

Renew your current visa.  For that, it will depend on if you are ,married to a local Lady.  If you are not, Chinese Embassies abroad in general will not grant you a 2 year visa, and stays above 90 days, unless you are married to a local, and with your visa application form include a copy of your marriage certificate and a copy of her Chinese ID or International Passport.  Also, most Embassies and Consulates are reluctant to grant great increments, they rather work you up.  In my case, I started with 6 months multiple entry, then one year, now two years.  Also started with 30 days, then up to 60, 90, 120 and now 150.  I do know they can go up to 180 days.
If you are at your home country when your visa expires, then just go to the Chinese Embassy and apply for a new one.  If you are in China when your visa expires, then photocopy your passport (at least info page, page where current expiring visa is attached, and page showing latest entry stamp).  Download visa application form, get photos, fees, and other required documents and Fed Ex them to either a good friend (include letter authorizing him to apply in your behalf) back home, or to a visa agent to go to Embassy and apply in your behalf.  Have passport  returned to you with new visa attached by Fed Ex too (or whichever carrier you fancy), it takes about 15 to 20 days, and the photocopy you made prior to start will cover you if you are stopped.

I dislike going to HKG to renew my visa there.  The best you will get is one or two entries, 6 months, 30 days.  Anything above that you will be told to go back to home country.

If you are already married, and in China, when your visa is about to expire, at least 5 days minimum prior to expiration date, go to PSB office where your Lady "hokou" book is register, and apply for a residence permit there (the so called "spouse visa").  Will need her to go with you, your passport, your married certificate, Her ID card, and your form for "Registration of Temporay Residence" with local Police, and apply for it.  Takes about 5 days to be granted.  At fierst you will get a 6 months stay, then upon renewal a one year, after 5 years of it may get a two year permit for as long as you stay married.  Single entry ones are a bit cheaper, multiple entry ones are more expensive.  They run close to 1,000 Rmb for a one year multiple entry for US citizens.

You can not get an expired visa renew at PSB, the best they can do for you  is to give you a 30 days extension on your current stay, but it is $ and you must show local funds to survive 30 days here, maybe 20,000 to 30,000 Rmb depending on location.

Hope this answwrs your questions.  If still have any doubts, please post again.
