This isnt for Beijing but just a general tip.

Eyeglasses back home are extremely costly and take a long time to be produced because its an actual piece of glass thats shaped to fit your eyes needs. In China, however, its usually just a sticky film thats placed over the glass. This may take as little as an hour to be produced and may cost as little at 75 rmb (though likely more in Beijing).

Using this method, you can usually buy glasses more often and in more interesting styles but dont expect them to last as long. Also, exposure to extreme heat, cold, or long term exposure to liquids can warp the film causing the prescription to change and potentially damage your eyes.

You can likely find stuff like what you had at home in Beijing, it will be costly but it all comes down to buyer beware.

You should go to Mingjingyuan glasses market. It's the number one place for buying glasses and very well known among locals.

A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
