Q: Any advice for me?
Really tired of all the thumbs down..........Everyday i look at them red on my face..............All the people i interact with in my life are chinese not even a single foreign person......so i be here to communicate with people that can interact sufficiently with me........but god............what the hell am i doing wrong to deserve all these thumbs down?!!!!
Ignore them, they don't affect your point score. A lot of them are people who just seem to like giving out thumbs down, and others are just grammar / spelling police, and then some are probably just racists who think this site should only be for expats.
Think of it as every time you get a thumbs down someone has read your post enough to disagree with it or that you have made them angry enough to do something so trivial. Either way result!
derek:
I don't know where to begin with the absolute inaccurate and vague nature of your advice.
Wow, man...really? You talk about point totals? (Who really cares about that?) Racists? You may have just set yourself back light years in terms of gaining respect on this site. I know you will say you don't care but clearly that isn't true.
Createach asked an honest question and you did nothing in the way of advising him in a positive manner.
I've said my piece here and don't wish to engage you in any way....and I won't.
Hugh.G.Rection:
Createach,
Sorry fair point, I made the mistake of assuming you were Chinese with very good English from your language, if this is not the case my apologies.
I won't respond to Derek's post directly as he appears to have gone off in a hissy fit. The only point I was trying to make was, don't let it get to you, it isn't important. Which appears to be what Guilinraf is saying below me. (although I'm having internet issues at the moment so I'm not 100% on that).
derek:
Hugh, you are kinda right. A little stressed lately and your comment set me off. Doesn't take much lately. You seem to have figured that out though. Nothing personal. ![]()
Dont worry about it. We all get the thumbs down. Sometimes, we can see how it is that we got it because of disagreements. Other times, it seems like everyone got a thumbs down for no reason.
Dont sweat it.
Anyway, here is a thumbs up to cheer you up!
Yeah. What everyone else said. Don't worry about it. I've given you a few, but I've also thumbs-uped your posts. I think everyone on here has gotten "ups" and "downs." Sometimes I read my post and say, "What? How did that get a thumbs down?" Especially when I've taken an extra precaution to put things in as neutral tone of voice as I can.
Just chalk it up to "life on the web." All I could say is to think before you hit that "submit" button. Plenty of times I've written something and then I re-read it, and it sounds really dumb. I've edited a post or deleted it entirely because after reading it, I find it really adds nothing new or doesn't advance the overall thought of the thread. Other times I've deleted posts before I submit them because of (what I feel) is improper language. All, in all, no big deal.
I usually only give thumbs down if the answer is repetition, racist or totally out of topic. And I don't use the down vote very often
Next time you answer, look if what you write has already been written. After that look if your answer has anything to do with the original post. If not, then don't post it.
Then I am sure you can avoid 90% of your down votes!
And please slow down on the ......... It makes the reading flow much slower.
Thumb down is used when we think, that post is "inappropriate", or we just strongly disagree with that, right?
So what? If somebody disagree with my post it is natural to have thumb down.
If something readers rate positive, and strongly agree with that - thumb up.
There are two thumbs to express both kind of emotions, right?
So both are in use. Just to not get it rusty...
Yeh, don't get over-sensitive Crea, you're a positive person, there's always some miserable sod gonna tell you not to be. Keep smiling sir.
Createach:
i swear..you should stop being cool or i might just change my sexual orientation because of you...................Just playing......God bless you mate
mArtiAn:
Haha, see that, all we've got are good words to say and some poor, miserable bugger comes along with a 'NUR' thumbs down. There are some truly pathetic individuals out there.
mArtiAn:
I kind of imagine that sad guy from Bugs Bunny or those Loony Tunes cartoons. Do you remember? Bald guy in a mac, always sorry for himself and with a real sorry, down-trodden voice. Nothing ever went right for him. I kind of imagine that guy, not full of hate, just negative and dull-witted, looking at his computer screen with a sad thrown and actually saying "Nurrr" in a pasty drawl as he presses the key. Poor sod.
mArtiAn:
No, Elmer was far more positive, with his "You cwazy wabbit," he had moxy. No the guy i'm thinking of was always kind of in the background, a bit part that came in on the side and always got screwed over. Really down-trodden.
Shit, my kid's just woken up.
Nurrr.
GuilinRaf:
Bald guy, big coat, big nose? Little hat?
Kinda talked into his sleeve?
Yikes, it has been a LONG time since I have seen any of the classic Loony Toons!
I really liked the pre-1970's Daffy Duck. He was more "loony", especially pre-WWII.. After the 70's he just became cynical.
mArtiAn:
Yeh, I think that's the guy. Always talked like he had a cold. Hahaha, that's our thumb fairy! GO ON BALDY, GIVE US A THUMBS DOWN, YOU BIG FAIRY!
Actually i like most of what you posted here,i think a group should be included by people of different kinds. It's certain that members like Happy should be respected, but the board also needs members like you.Though most of us want to see answers to the point, it would be kind of boring if all the answers are like that. So,only if the answer doesn't sound like racist or too aggressive,it is ok.
bro always remember that( if some is trying to bring you down it means you are above them ) they are jus scared of you and they are haters and losers ,who cant face any thing better than them ,just ignore them
Createach:
WELL...THANK YOU FOR THE VOTE OF CONFIDENCE.........................ROCK ON MATES!!!
Well it's nice that everybody's so supportive here, but I'm going to give some real tips. Please stop ending so many sentences with "?!!!" Why do you always use exclamation marks? Also, it may be annoying to some people to see so many relationship related questions being posted. As for thumbs down, I rarely give a thumbs down. When I do, it's often a post that has several thumbs down already. Sometimes it is for a post that is inappropriate or pointless. Sometimes it may be for a post that was meant as a joke, but ended up sounding offensive. Like the others said, thumbs down doesn't really mean anything. All it means is that someone didn't like your post. If someone gives me a thumbs down I just ignore it. And honestly, if someone complains about getting thumbs down, I feel more like giving them a thumbs down.
The thumbs down affect your points. Everybody gets them, look above, there is no reason anyone got negatives. Don't sweat it.
doesn't matter up or down..just count the total no. and be happy..at least you will know that you have so many readers...
cheers
when did you start caring about others? write as you like. It is a democratic country..upps..people's country...
Stop posting stupid sh**

Thought about it after I posted;
Famous proverb - better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than open your mouth and prove it
Createach, your points are often quite disjointed and difficult to read. Also, you frequently fail to address the actual question. I suspect this is the cause of many/most of the down votes.
