in total 298 people died
f from at least 8 county's
plane was on route from Neherlands to Malaysia flight M17
No, all (1.3B) are safe.
Scandinavian:
no they're not. Their country is heavily polluted, they can go to prison for farting the national anthem.
donnie3857:
he did say 1.3 billion. The country has 1.38 billion people. So that means 80 million are not safe.
SCMP reports that one Hongkonger has been confirmed. Still 39 unspoken for. I wonder if a Hongkonger is a Chinese in this case..... ah well, let's not make a tragedy about civil rights.
I would rather no one had been on that plane. What a terrible waste of life.
Humanity is pretty fecked up when you consider how much effort we put into killing each other.
What kind of idiot shoots down a ramdom plane?
TedDBayer:
I can see that, probably shirtless, but his rocket suffers from premature ejaculation
I agree with the Australian's PM statement. He said:
"
An angry Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott demanded an independent inquiry into the downing.
"The initial response of the Russian ambassador was to blame Ukraine for this and I have to say that is deeply, deeply unsatisfactory," he said. "It's very important that we don't allow Russia to prevent an absolutely comprehensive investigation so that we can find out exactly what happened here."
"This is not an accident, it's a crime," he added.
"
The ongoing reports about the death toll and the nationalities of the passengers look to be as follows:
"At a news conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Airlines updated its nationality count of passengers, saying the plane carried 173 Dutch, 24 Malaysian, 27 Australian, 12 Indonesian, 9 British, 4 German, 4 Belgian, 3 Filipino and one person each from Canada and New Zealand."
All these info are Yahoo breaking news.
So far, no Chinese reported to be among the people who died and could be found at Malaysian plane site. It is still to search for more bodies given the total number of passengers who were flying on that plane. So far, out of 195, only 181 bodies were found and identified.
Now, my question would be: isn't that a declaration of war? If not, then what is it? However, this is going to be an international diplomatic issue. The Australian Prime Minister has already made it very clear and I suspect the action as criminal as well.
ScotsAlan:
It is criminal. To point a missile at an aircraft and pull the trigger.
They were probably jubilant and done a little dance when it hit.
All acts of war should be considered criminal in this day and age. Thousands of years of development and the peak of our achievment is developing new ways to kill.

According to TheGuardian.com there were serious accusations from the Ukrainian president saying that this is is a terrorist attack:
"
The president of Ukraine has accused pro-Russia rebels in the east of the country of shooting down a Malaysia Airlines jet with a ground-to-air missile, killing all 298 people on board as the airliner exploded and rained down in fiery pieces over a rural Ukrainian village.
The huge loss of life threatens to have wide-ranging and unpredictable consequences, coming just after the US imposed further sanctions on Russia for continuing to provide weapons to the rebels. Defence and security experts said the Russian-made Buk surface-to-air missile system, known to be in the hands of pro-Russia fighters in Ukraine, was most likely used.
"This was not an 'incident', this was not a 'catastrophe', this was a terrorist act," said Ukraine's president, Petro Poroshenko.
The US vice-president, Joe Biden, said the plane appeared to have been "blown out of the sky", while the Ukrainian security services released an audio recording said to be rebel commanders realising their forces were responsible.
"
From the same source, a conversation looks to go social media virus, which I didn't find it yet, between a pro-Russian group and its superior. Apparently they claim to have shot-down a military aircraft but they confirm to be a civilian one.
"
On Thursday night audio was being circulated on social media, apparently released by Ukrainian security services, purporting to be an intercepted conversation of pro-Russian rebels confirming they had shot down a civilian jet.
The conversation is apparently between a group leader and his superior and suggests that they initially thought they had brought down a military aircraft but later realised their error.
The group leader, "Demon", tells his boss: "A plane has just been shot down. [It was] 'Miner's' group. It crashed outside Enakievo. Our men went to search for and photograph it. It's smouldering."
After his men apparently inspect the crash site, Demon reports back. "Cossacks from the Chernunkhino checkpoint shot down the plane. The plane disintegrated in mid-air … they found the first body. It's a civilian."
He carries on: "I mean. It's definitely a civilian aircraft."
His superior, nicknamed "Greek", asks him: "Were there many people?"
Demon replies: "A fuckton. The debris rained right into the yards."
Greek asks: "What's the aircraft?" and is told: "I haven't figured it out yet. I haven't reached the main section. I only looked at where the bodies began to fall. There are remains of chair mounts, the chairs, the bodies."
Greek asks: "Any weapons there?" and Demon says: "None at all. Civilian things, medical stuff, towels, toilet paper." "Any documents?" asks Greek, and Demon, perhaps realising what has just happened, replies: "Yes, an Indonesian student from [a US] university."

Here is a video where you can watch the Australian's PM official statement about the tragedy. I hope it can be perfectly viewed.
http://www.theguardian.com/world/video/2014/jul/18/tony-abbott-justice-malaysia-airlines-disaster
According to EL Pais.com, the Spanish source:
"Entre las víctimas del derribo del avión de Malaysia Airlines en Ucrania se encuentra el holandés Joep Lange, uno de los expertos más reconocidos en el mundo sobre el sida. Varios pasajeros -hasta un centenar, según Fairfax Media- se dirigían, al igual que Lange, a la conferencia internacional sobre esta enfermedad que estaba previsto que comenzara el domingo en Melbourne (Australia)."
Joep Lange, an outstanding expert in HIV was among the Malaysian plane's passengers, who was heading to an International Conference on that matter in Melbourne, Australia. According to Fairfax Media then published by Elpais.com there were about 100 more passengers headed to the same Conference together with Joep Lange.
Now, to my concerns, this is a special loss. I am so sorry for all of the people who died in such tragic circumstances and for their families who are through the pain of such loss.
PD. Joep Lange was a Professor of Medicines at the University of Amsterdam, he was at the head of the International HIV Society, a scientific mind who dedicated 30 years researching the illness.
No, which is why they are laughing at the loss of close to 300 lives. The soulless nature of China is disgusting.
sam239:
Well there does seem to be a bit of karma, I don't believe for a second that Mr. Najib and Mr. Hashimuddin don't know what happened to MH370. So maybe they laugh at this one but seems like those ministers had a bit of a chuckle themselves at the loss of life they clearly didn't respect.
Is it true that there are 80 children who died in this airplane attack?
PD: Just found out that indeed there are 80 children among the passengers who died in this criminal attack:

Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash: 'Nine Britons, 23 Americans and 80 children' feared dead after Boeing passenger jet is 'shot down' near Ukraine-Russia border
US officials believe the plane was hit by a surface-to-air missile
Kashmira Gander Author Biography
Both pro-Russian rebels and the Ukrainian government denied shooting the aircraft down after US authorities said intelligence analysis showed it had been hit by a surface-to-air missile.
Pictures and video from the scene showed bodies strewn around the site of the crash amid the charred wreckage of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, which fell to Earth near the town of Grabovo, about 50km from the Russia-Ukraine border.
The area has seen fierce fighting between Ukrainian forces and separatist rebels, who have shot down several military planes and helicopters in the past.
The passengers on the flight included 154 Dutch, 27 Australians, 38 Malaysians - including 15 crew, 11 people from Indonesia, four Germans, four Belgians, three from the Philippines and one Canadian.

The Ukrainian Interior Ministry said 23 US citizens were travelling on the aircraft and nationalities of the remaining passengers were still being confirmed.
Video: Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash
A spokesman from The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it was working to identify any British victims of the tragedy. “We are aware of the reports and are urgently working to establish what has happened," he said.
Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Friday that the Malaysia Airlines jetliner did not make any distress call, adding that its flight route had been declared safe by the global civil aviation body. He added investigators "will leave no stone unturned".
While the cause of the crash has not been determined, US Vice President Joe Biden cautiously suggested the crash was "not an accident" and that the jet had "apparently blown out of the sky", while a US official said that, while its origin was unclear, a surface-to-air missile was probably responsible. "I say 'apparently' because we don't actually have all the details. I want to be sure of what I say. Apparently, shot down. Shot down, not an accident. Blown out of the sky," he said.
The Boeing 777-200 departed Amsterdam at 12.14am local time bound for Kuala Lumpur, 15 minutes later than scheduled, according to flight records.
It should have arrived in Malaysia at 6:10am local time, but did not enter Russian airspace when it was expected to, a Russian aviation source told Reuters.
The Eurocontrol organsiation, which co-ordinates European air traffic control, closed air routes in eastern Ukraine on Thursday evening.
The incident came one day after US President Barack Obama levied broad economic sanctions on Russia as punishment for its threatening behaviour towards Ukraine.
Amid tensions in the region, Russian President Vladmir Putin blamed Ukraine for the crash, the Kremlin said in a statement early on Friday.
Putin opened a meeting with his economic advisers by calling for a moment of silence over the crash, but added: "This tragedy would not have happened if there were peace on this land, if the military actions had not been renewed in southeast Ukraine. And, certainly, the state over whose territory this occurred bears responsibility for this awful tragedy."
Russian-backed Ukrainian rebels and the Ukraine government have accused each other of carrying out the ground-to-air strike, with both issuing firm denials of any involvement in the disaster.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko responding by calling the crash a "terrorist" attack which posed a challenge to the whole world, his website said.
I read that on the crash site, some locals are looting the bodies. Veeerrrrrryyyy niiiiiice, would say Borat.
putin is getting desperate, when the ukraine president refused a cease fire and started a new offensive, he started firing missiles from the russian side and bringing advanced weapons, a loss will ruin his reelection plans with the russian economy lackluster, there are no reasons to keep his ass in power. this will cause escalation and loss of credibility, he should blame rogue seperatists, deny involvement and leave before he has to crawl home with his tail between his legs.

funny how they have videos of them hightailing back across the border with the launcher the next day and the separatists were bragging on their website until they found out it was a civilian airliner and then took down the website. the tangled webs we weave when do do deceive.

amazed at how "the world" condemnation consists of USA and a few European countries..... what about Africa, what do they say?, what about China, India, Brazil , are they angry, ...haven't heard from CNN or BBC..... while I agree Putin is a criminal, I do think the "world" is bigger than USA and BBC does. http://rt.com/news/174496-malaysia-crash-russia-questions/
Russia has released military monitoring data, which shows Kiev military jets tracking the MH17 plane shortly before the crash - and posed yet another set of questions to Ukraine and the US over the circumstances of the tragedy.
the legal stuff of this are getting stupid, as they always do...... Malaysia Airlines is a victim and should be compensated, not bankrupted. God I hate lawyers!!!
