Hi,

I'm interested to relocate to China as my girlfriend is from zhejiang.

My qualification : Bachelor degree in mechanical

Experience: 4 years working in semiconductor industry with a Multi  National Company.

Any engineering expat out there keen to share  how can i get a job in china with my qualification?

What about working visa procedure?

Any web portal for engineering expat in china? As of now, most of the jobs posting are mostly for native english teacher.

I am from singapore.

Look at eChinacities Jobs section, top R of this screen. Change parameters on 'Job category' to 'engineering', chose your favorite city, and email away your resume:

http://jobs.echinacities.com/jobs/search?ins=Engineering&keyword=Company...

I'm not sure why are teaching jobs included on 'engineering jobs', but you can just skip that. There's one post about 'teaching engineering at Uni'.
Good luck!

Try to have your GF translate your CV, use sites like http://www.51job.com/

You can also go to LinkedIn, not used a lot by Chinese companies, but international companies operating in China will use LinkedIn for recruitment, I think there are some groups on LinkedIn for job hunting in China.

Not speaking Chinese is a big disqualifier. Personally I've only ever gotten replies from companies in Hong Kong, and been called to interviews there. Given up now and spent my time on my own stuff so from a tax/visa perspective I am not working.

Scandinavian:

Oh, I should add. China has a huge supply of, on paper, highly skilled people that will work for low pay, so if you apply for a job in a Chinese company, don't expect an impressive pay.

I'm an Engineer based in Guangzhou though I was relocated here by the company from the UK. I've been considering a change so have been looking around. As Scandi mentioned above, Linkedin is worth looking at. There are a few groups that might be useful to you:

http://www.linkedin.com/groups/China-Expats-Returnees-Jobs-中国招聘-3686699?trk=my_groups-b-grp-v

There are quite a lot of Engineering jobs listed on Linkedin in China though a lot of them are looking for bi-lingual Chinese/English.

As to the working visa procedure. If you find an employer who wants you then they will process that. You have the right qualifications and more than the minimum work experience so that wouldn't be a problem.  I've still got a PDf copy of the procedure on my laptop but can't work out how to post it on here. If anyone can advise how to do this I'll attach it here.

Ok, procedure/steps listed below from start to finish to becoming fully legal to work in China. Copied and pasted from the PDF file that I was given when I got my alien employment licence, residency permit, etc. My document was created in excel and had more information (like times for each step and where to get it done in Guangzhou)

Process:

Step 1:Submit and apply for approval (company or agent - my company used FESCO)

Step 2: Accompany to take the Medical Exam and get the result (I think you can get this done in your hoem country if you are outside China)

Step 3:Apply for the Alien Employment License (Company or agent)

Step 4:Apply for the Invitation Letter (Company or agent)

Step 5:Apply for Employment visa (Z visa) to enter into China (You do this in your home country at the Chinese embassy/consulate/official visa office with the documents that come from the steps aboe).

At this point you enter China using your single entry Z visa.......

Step 6: Apply for <Registration form of Temporary Residence for Visitors> with Z visa--* After entering China with Z visa,

Note: You now can't leave Chinese mainland before obtaining the Alien Residence Permit.

Step

7:Apply for Alien Employment Permit (within 15 days after entering China with Z visa) (Company or agent)

8:Apply for Alien Residence Permit (within 30 days after entering China with Z visa)--Need interview. You go to the visa office yourself for this with all the relevent paperwork. My "interview" lasted all of 5 minutes and I can't remember being asked anything except to confirm my name!

cost of resident permit:

(less than 1 year) 400 RMB/one permit (1 year or more)800 RMB/one permit (I was extremely lucky that the FESCO agent filled the fomrs in well and I have a 3 year residence permit)

Note: Your passport will be kept in Exit and Entry Bureau for about 5 working days.

Approximate timings for the steps above (this was in 2011) in working days:

Step 1: 5

Step 2: 5

Step 3: 5

Step 4: 5

Step 5: This is up to you. It took 4 working days from applying to getting my passport in the Manchester, UK, visa office.

Step 6: 1 day and you are supposed to do it as soon as possible after you arrive in China.

Step 7: 5 days

Step 8:  5 days (though I've read that this part now takes up to 15 days).

Hope the above is of help.
