Just had a studen's laptop stolen and then there was a big fight between the Chinese HR and a foreign teacher over working an extra day for 2 weeks so we can have a 5 day break for Spring Festival.

Is this considered good drama? It seems like small-time every antics to me. Just part of the ying-and-yang of it all here.
How about this one which happened to one of my colleagues (lets call him "Randy"):
English teacher in Guilin walks into a pink lighted massage parlor and askes for a full body massage with a "happy ending".
He takes off his clothes, covering his middle with the scanty towel provided, when in walks this young girl who happens to be his student!!!
For one second they stare at each other, and then wordlessly she begins her job giving him the full body massage including the happy ending. The entire operation was performed with no words exchanged between them. When done, she cleans him up and leaves, while he gets dressed and goes home.
His student had never participated in class before and after the "incident" remained as quiet as ever. Nevertheless, because of their shared secret, he gave her a good mark.
In the States, she would have told everyone what had happened and the whole school would have found out. Fortunately for "Randy", face and purity are important even among roomates!
derek:
That has to be one of the best stories ever. I'm gonna retell that one the next time I go out for a few beers.
Heres another:
I had one colleague who demanded to be paid extra for going to English Corner (he had already signed the contract weeks before). When they showed him the contract where it was specified that english corner was part of his regular duties he then refused to go. At first, the school did nothing until the other teachers found out. Then THEY started being absent as well. Finally, the school h ad to clamp down on those being absent because the students were complaining. Any teacher who did not go to at least one English corner a month would not be paid. The original teacher raised hell with much "chest thumping, but in the long run he had to meekly gave in. Like a little lamb. lol!
Only work-based drama.. nothing so exciting as Raf's stories...
Trying to now decide on policies that should have been done 9.5 years ago. Director's of study trying to BS his way to make 1/3 of the students (who failed), to actually have passed. A foreign HoS saying we should just tell the students to photocopy the textbooks... and have the Chinese Dean say that's not allowed!!! (that last one makes my head spin!)
I once worked in a school where as a show of defience, one of the Foreign Teachers decided to not shower and shave for 28 days. His beef was that the HM told him to stop "putting the moves" on some of the female office staff. At the time, I was the Head of the English Department and the HM held me accountable for the actions of the other teachers. I was left with two options, force him to clean up his act or fire him. He refused my directive so.......
