Yes!

I recently stayed at a lovely hostel on Pingjiang Lu called the Mingtown Backpackers. You can search for it on hostelbookers.com or hostelworld.com.

It's cheap, pretty central to town and it's along a really quaint cobbled street next to a canal. The only downside is the bathrooms and toilets are quite cramped and have no windows so get a bit sweaty. Also they keep all the windows open so expect mosquitoes!

But apart from that, a really nice place to stay (and cheap - 50 RMB for a dorm bed or 120 RMB for a double room)

Have fun in Suzhou!

You could also try Joya International Youth Hostel in Suzhou's old town. Its biggest appeal is the fact that it's housed in a nice looking tradtional Chinese building. It's also close to the canal and the train station so quite convenient. Details below.
