Q: Any ideas for funny/ironic Chinese character tattoos?

In general, I'm opposed to the idea of Chinese character tattoos (at least with people back home who did it to be exotic and have no idea what the characters mean). However, recently I've started to reconsider getting a tattoo to commemorate my time here. I want to get something funny or ironic preferably (as opposed to a big "水“ character for no apparent reason).

Any ideas?

In case you meet some Chinese in your own country: "内国人" or "老内".

“日本” or some other random country's name

“拉肚子” depending on how classy you are

"什么意思?” so whenever some one asks you "what does that mean", you can respond with a simple "Yes".

I met a Jewish fella who had 'My hovercraft is full of eels' written along his arm in Arabic. Don't know if you get the reference or not but it's from a famous Monty Python sketch. I've considered getting that in Chinese before.

Actually, speaking of people having stuff in Chinese they don't understand, I bought my brother a Zippo lighter a few years back and decided to have it engraved in Chinese. My initial plan was to tell him it said something gay like 'Never far' when in fact it would read something super-gay like 'I love big fat c**ks.' I just liked to imagine him showing it to a waiter in the local Chinese restaurant. Went to get it engraved and they gave me an extortionate quote (and some very strange looks) so I didn't do it. By the time I did get it done i'd changed my mind about the engraving, imagining instead that it could become a family aireloom, and that 'I love big fat c**ks' didn't set the right tone for something that might be past down through the generations. What I didn't consider however is that my brother's a bigger piss-head than me, and he lost the damn thing within about three months.

Um, most Jews I know wont have a tattoo, let alone in Arabic.  And I know plenty...

Well that's clearly my mistake in using the word 'Arabic'. Sorry. Or maybe it's my mistake in usig the word 'Jews'. Either way it was an Arab guy with Arabic or a Jewish guy with Hebrew text. Forgive my ignorance, I just don't really give a f**k.

Made in (insert you country of origin) . You know, how everything is usually "Made in China"?  You could get "Made in XXX" in Chinese.  "XX制造" with the XX as your country.

You should get a Mao Zedong tattoo like the kind Mike Tyson got! Either that or the famous monkey king Tattoo! Now, that will surely get the ladies heads turning!

Not funny, but a couple of weeks ago I was in San Diego and we went and got tattoos. I got  Live (to be more than), Love, Laugh and Dream in Chinese characters with cherry blossom flowers down my forearm. It's pretty cool :)

I reckon the 草泥马 is a good one. I was thinking of getting a t-shirt with that on actually and a cute picture of the Grass Mud Horse.
