Q: Any ideas for some kids party games?

Children's Day is at the end of the month and the school has decided to have a party for the kids. Ages 6 - 8. We have played lots of different games before. Does anybody have some games that might be a bit different and that the kids can play and won't freak the parents out? Or confuse the kids?

'Woof, woof, what time is it?

You are 'wolf', turned with your back toward kids ('sheep'). You're turning around with your eyes closed, while sheep keep repeating: 'What time is it?'. Wolf is acting like 'speaking clock', and calling out different times. For every time wolf calls out, sheep can make one step closer to the wolf.

When wolf says: 'It's 12 o'clock' (or any other chosen time), sheep must run away, because wolf is permitted to hunt, and run after the sheep.

You can alternate 'wolf' and 'sheep' role between kids, after they understand the game.

These are different variations of the game. At my Kindergarten, kids just want to play 'woof woof' all the time.

Play pin the tail on The donkey!! Blind fold the kid turn them around about 5 times and have them try and put the tail on a donkey that you have to make yourself....this game is popular, but I'm not sure you can just go to a store and buy it. You can make it by getting large construction paper and cutting the shape of a donkey. If you can laminate the donkey so it lasts longer that would be excellent...

That or you can play a game I just made up in class. Depends how many kids you have but here is a fun game. Have 3 flashcards call 3 kids up. Another kid or two stands behind them. You call the card such as piano or say play piano. Musical instruments work best...because you can say play then quickly say the word.

If that child has that card they duck, but if one of the kids from behind grabs them they are it and takes that childs place. The game continues in this way. It can last awhile as you can keep playing it and playing it endlessly!

Parcel-parcel is a good game.  Wrap a gift up in old newspaper and selotape it up.  Play music and whilst the music is played, pass the parcel around the circle (the children are sat in a circle), and when the music stops, the child that has the parcel undoes a bit of the parcel.

You have stop and start the music until all the wrapping has been taken off the parcel.  Note, you can stop and start the music any time, after one second or ten, or whatever.

Ah yeah. I remember that one. Good idea. Tks.

Thanks for the responses. Guess what? It's not a party they want. I was informed today that we will be required to do a performance on stage. Let's see.....no rehearsal, no kids except the class I would be teaching at that time which, by the way, I am told is 8.30am Saturday 25th May! Chinese organization at its best. I just posted a blog about last year's Children's Day when I at least had a choir going and 6 weeks to rehearse plus time enough for the kids to get an onstage uniform. Aaaaarrrggghhh!!! Ah well, let's embarrass the kids and the teacher.

Read my question thread about children being taken out of my class.  Another poster commented how the lack of information, notice, planning etc etc are rife in our lives here as foreign teachers, or rather faces in our schools.

Yeah I've been putting up with this ever since I arrived here. I can't get over their looks of incredible disappointment when I go a little ballistic about lack of planning.

"You mean you don't think you can teach 20 kids 2 new songs in an hour and a half, well enough for them to perform for the Children's Palace Leaders?"

Doh!

A: If you received an online degree in most cases it should have been from a reputable college. If it came from a degree mill that definitely would be a problem. You should not worry about how they will contact this place. If the degree is considered authentic the people will know where to go to inquire. In my case I needed a copy of my diploma and one company in China recommended a Clearinghouse that was able to verify my degrees. They did not provide copies of the diploma, though. If the place where you received this degree is acceptable in your country then, it should be acceptable in China.Another point to consider you stated it was an MS degree. I have not aware of any programs that allow students to hop from a high school education to a Masters degree level education. With that said maybe you received a Bachelors degree. If that is the case submit that information.  I would not encourage you to lie. In that you definitely will not have any paper trail to back up your story. Some companies do not accept TEFL online especially if it came from International Open Academy. That place is a one room office. I would consider that a TEFL mill. It was such a waste of time.Do you have the ability to do searches online? -- slspringer22
